Looking out for a place to eat, we stumbled across Trennick Mill having failed to find anywhere to park at The Heron at Malpas. On the Malpas Road, overlooking a small lake, this Restaurant in the Park, caught our eye and we decided to stop.
Run by an ambiguous young couple, this eatery is beginning to build a reputation for excellent, well-priced and beautifully presented meals.
Service is friendly attentive but relaxed...the ambiance welcoming.
The menu is interesting, food delicious...what a lucky find..!

We really enjoyed our cooked breakfasts and the service was superb. We have walked past so many times over the past 25 years and always wondered what the food was like. We are so pleased we went in and will make this our choice for lunch on trips to Truro.

We used to visit this restaurant regularly under the original management and loved it but had been disappointed when it was taken over around 5 years ago. Reading it had been taken over again we went as a party of 10 to celebrate a birthday. It didn't usually open on the evening we planned to go - a Wednesday - but they agreed to open for our party. And how glad we are they did! With a variety of palates in our party, including a fussy teenager, the meal was heartily endorsed by everyone. My sea bass with sweet potato gnocchi and ginger and shrimp butter sauce was fantastic, and my sons raved about their chicken with pearl barley and root vegetable risotto and pork chop with apple sauce ( never knew a pork chop could taste so good). Service was excellent and the wines were good quality and reasonably priced. My only slight disappointment was my dessert - apple clafoutis - but others enjoyed their chocolate fondants and cheese boards. Well worth a visit - lovely setting too next to the park on a pleasant summer's evening. We will be back!
