When I rang to make the booking I got the impression tha the people who run this place know what they're doing... and I didn't experience anything to dispel that belief during the visit.

We got the newly decorated 4 -poster room on the first floor... finished to very high quality and with lots of useful touches, variable lighting, a good bathroom and places to put things (why is it so many places don't leave you room to put your toothbrush?).

The guests kitchen/dining room is a great idea... fantastic fresh scones and tea (no charge) in the gardens, use it for your 'bring-in' dinner and a decent enough buffet breakfast. Some people would object to the lack of full service and/or a cooked option... what was on offer was pretty much what I'd have at home most mornings. If you need more then its a five minute walk down to town or stay somehwere else... what's offered is made very clear on the website before you book. We found the buffet perfectly acceptable and it was good to have the choice of when to eat. The only concern would be if too many guests tried to use the facilities at the same time... things could get cosy.

Our welcome and check in briefing was excellent (young lady) and dealings with the owners... who as I imagined have been in this business for quite some time... was friendly and helpful if a touch 'eccentric' (but nice eccentric).

All in all an excellent place to stay with its own parking and at a very reasonable price... certainly on the 'go again when in town' list.

Room Tip: Our room was at the front of the house and, when the windows were open, there was a bit of road noise but nothing too intrusive... and quieter at night as fewer cars using the road

Our third visit to the townhouse and the first time in the newly refurbished four poster bedroom on the 1st floor. It was truly sumptious, done to a very high standard with quality fttings and decorations, a luxury bathroom and that splendid queen-sized mahogany four poster complete with panelled lid and tapestry curtains. Everything is catered for here including a good sized flat screen tv, free wi-fi, a deluge style shower/bath and all of the extras that make all the difference between an average and an enjoyable stay. You won't get 'full-english' breakfast here as the policy is to help yourself but there is plenty of choice of quality ingredients and you can access the well equipped kitchen at any time of the day or night so bringing back a take-away is an option if you don't feel like eating out. There's even a broadband enabled PC and a plasma tv in the kitchen as well as a guests fridge to keep your drinks cold whilst your out enjoying the sights of Cornwall. The owners are friendly and helpful and the overall atmosphere is of peace and relaxation. We love it here and would reccommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Only two four-poster beds so book early if you want one. All of the beds are luxurious though.

I booked in on business being on my own. As it turned out three colleagues booked in as well. The bedrooms were fantastic and the freedom with the kitchen set up was perfect. The freshly baked cakes were a bonus after a hard day working. We all had to return four weeks later and booked the rooms again before we left to make sure we got in. I enjoyed it so much that I persuaded my husband to join me after the work bit was over and we spent three more days enjoying the setting and not able to resist the cakes and wonderful breakfast selection. There are some great restaurants in walking distance too. Maria Cameron

A brief review can't do this place justice. The room was beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. There was no traffic noise even though the room was at the front. The kitchen/dining room where guests can help themselves to breakfast (a great choice of cereals, fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurts...) is a wonderful idea, as are the homemade cake/scones available for afternoon tea at no extra charge. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. It's truly a home from home, with some lovely restaurants a short walk away. I couldn't fault it and would recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in Truro.
