“Thank you, Gillian and Paul!”
Reviewed 30 April 2012

I'm very glad my family and I stayed at The Hill Cottage. Gillian and Paul made us feel perfectly welcome in their charming home and garden. We spent two nights in the double en-suite and the twin room. The rooms were much more lovely than the photos had led us to expect. And our needs were graciously met without our asking: tea service and biscuits in our rooms, a visitor brochure and a selection of books, plenty of space for our luggage and for hanging our clothes, hot showers, a key so we could return late, conversation when we wanted to chat and privacy when we wished. Breakfast was delicious. The garden and woods set The Hill Cottage apart from other options. After our long flight from the US, my children (11 and 14 years old), my husband, and I all appreciated the peaceful and lovingly-tended garden and woods. My children had much fun exploring paths through the woods and up the hillside. During our stay we drove to Warwick and Stratford-Upon-Avon. I highly recommend The Hill Cottage.

It was our complete pleasure to welcome you, and especially good that you had time for more than a 'flying visit' and could therefore relax, using The Hill Cottage as a base and enjoying the particular delights of the gardens. Our own children made copious dens in their younger days so it's good to still have others exploring with a sense of adventure! Thank you for taking time to post your review.

We thought the 4 days we had in a Staffordshire cottage were nice till we arrived at this lovely B&B. A beautiful, characterful house (NB: including steep staircase), over which the owners have clearly devoted time and care to every detail. It feels homely and comfortable and we were made to feel welcome, with a good full English breakfast each morning. And Gillian didn't mind us muscling into the kitchen to prepare baby food. Thanks for putting up with our family and large amounts of luggage! One of the best B&B's we've stayed in - we would highly recommend.

Room Tip: The ensuite is obviously more convenient than twin with separate bathroom, but both rooms were lovel...

What a wonderful place run by a charming couple. We were on a business trip and were booked to stay elsewhere but they were fully booked so recommended Hill Cottage to us-we shall be staying here every year in future. The attention to detail in each room was great and made for a real home from home stay. The breakfast was amazing and kept us going all day.
See you next year.

It was a pleasure to meet you and your colleagues and to find that we share a common interest. We do enjoy visits from our regular guests who have also found us convenient for the shows and stands they attend at the NEC during the year. We look forward to welcoming you all again.
Many thanks for taking the time to post a review.

I've been to Hill Cottage a few times now, but until last month, always on my own for business reasons. I had resolved one day to go with my wife, see a couple of plays at RSC and have a relaxing 48 hours. I knew she'd love it there, and I was right! This time, we had the en suite double, instead of a room on my own with shared bathroom (which is perfectly fine, when I'm on my own) - but this was something else. The decor and furnishings are colourful and welcoming without being fussy; and everything you could possibly need for a short break is provided. The breakfast is always excellent - personally prepared to order by Gillian. My wife is less keen on a cooked breakfast than I am, but this one really impressed her. Cooked to perfection! Gillian is a wonderful hostess: attentive and interested without being intrusive. Paul, who greeted us, is equally friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I have booked my next solo visit for June!

After a weekend of chaos due to cold and snow, what a relief to know we were staying at one of the best b&b we have ever been to. It is such a delightful location, despite the snow problems encountered on the way, and so homely and friendly. A lovely haven to come back to after a first class night at the Memorial Theatre Stratford watching "The Taming of the Shrew". This is the second time we have stayed here and it certainly will not be the last. What lovely hosts.

Just returned from another visit to The Hill Cottage. We have been visiting Gillian and Paul's super B&B for about 5-6 years after struggling to find a decent place to stay in and around Stratford prior to that. Now when visiting the theatres we know there will always be a friendly welcome. Gillian goes out of her way to make this a home from home experience and treats us like friends; a rare quality that make The Hill Cottage our first choice everytime.

Room Tip: They are all good, but mind your head on the beams in the balcony room!

We stayed for two nights; everything was of an excellent standard. Friendly, helpful hostess and a fantastic individually cooked breakfast made this a very relaxing weekend break. Sincerely recommended and already looking forward to arranging a return visit.

Room Tip: Did not see other rooms but our twin room very quietly located.
