“Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

This is a lovely hotel with beautiful views of the Ionean Sea. The staff are very efficient and kind and the cleanliness of all areas of the hotel is great. The food choices in the restaurant are first class. I was taken ill whilst staying there, and the kindness and helpfulness of all the staff during the remainder of my stay was really appreciated.

White Rocks had been recommended by three separate sets of people.
The builders have made the most of its cliff-side position, with a site that architecturally compliments the location. It is quite a big hotel spread over large grounds that has benefited from a recently completed refurbishment.
Not the prettiest part of the island but very convenient for getting around and only ten minutes from the airport.
Housekeeping is first rate with a spotless site and impeccably clean rooms.
Food is very good, although breakfasts do tend to lack variety. However, this is more than made up for by the dinner menu. The standard of cooking in the restaurant is excellent with a wide choice using fresh ingredients. It is probably worth clarifying some previous reviews commenting on the dinner dress-code; if you arrive at the restaurant dressed smartly, you will not have a problem! Having been to far stricter places, WR are fair and are right to maintain a standard.
What lets down the dining experience is that meals are buffet service and at times it feels very 1970s package deal. Serve yourself, somehow does not fit with the overall ambiance. Also, tea and coffee is not available to finish your meal; strange!
For the size of the hotel, the pool is small and gets crowded very quickly, as does the private beach. The local public beach is better and is not rocky! Also, some of the other island hotels have superior pool-side provision in terms of quality sun loungers, staffing and facilities.
The hotel staff are helpful and efficient, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Just watch your the cost of your drinks, as you are paying a healthy premium on your bar bill. Although, the little stand alone cocktail bar is idyllic and worth the prices just to see the sun set as you sip a martini!
This is a pleasant resort, maybe not the best on the island but certainly up there with the top few.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking the road as it can get noisy. A very busy quarry is only a mile away!

We have just returned from our first trip to this hotel, we took out 3 year old daughter and we had a fab time. The hotel could'nt do enough for us, the staff were so helpful and accommodating even the chef cooking something specially for my daughter within 5 mins. The hotel is quite spread out and there are quite a few steps within the complex. The cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding and the rooms very comfortable and not small even with the additional bed we had. If I could suggest any improvements it would be an onsite shop for snacks etc and also a better quality park, it was a little bit rickety! These small points would'nt stop us visiting again.

We have just returned from our 'umpteenth' visit to WR. Each year we are impressed by the gradual improvements. We particularly like the relaxing environment and quietness of the surrounds and, of course, the perfect views. The kindness and efficiency of all the staff is great as is the cleanliness of all areas.
However, we do miss the self-service cafe for our lunch in the dappled sun overlooking the main beach. It is not the same sitting in the restaurant at midday - one feels one must dress-up a bit. This results in our using the pool bar, which is very good but doesn't carry the hot foods we have liked and also becomes really busy around 1pm as we suspect people aren't using the hotel restaurant.
All other aspects - food, pool, bungalows, dining room etc are first class and no doubt we will return.
Our thanks to all the brilliant staff at White Rocks!

Room Tip: As long as you have a sea view all rooms are good.

This was our first visit to White Rocks and we were very impressed, the standards set in this hotel are high and all the staff are trained to meet this standard.
The restaurant is very large and is self service, the menuu is changed daily abd the food is varied and delicious, with the best Kefalonian Meat Pie we have tasted, if you are 1/2 board you can exchange dinner for lunch then experience the local tavernas some 10 minutes walk away.
The hotel has a swimming pool and a small private beach with only approximately a dozen or so beds on the beach and a further 24 or so round the pool, we did not use the hotel sunbeds but opted for the Makris Gialos beach a short walk from the hotel and this beach has superb facilities.
The hotel has 3 bars, the lobby bar, one on the lower floor with large opening windows and "The Corner Bar" which is 2 minutes from the Hotel, staff in all 3 are friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: 1/2 the rooms in the hotel face the sea with the other 1/2 facing the main road, there are another n...

Just got back from the White Rocks Hotel, Kefalonia, and our experience was absolutely fantastic. We could not fault the staff who were so friendly, helpful and obliging, our bungalow was a Junior Suite, it was roomy, well laid out, the view superb and the ladies who cleaned the room every day also changed the towels every day, including yellow beach towels.

The food was varied and plentiful, if there was a problem it was stopping yourself from being a glutton which was not easy because of the choice put before you.

The layout of the complex was varied, it had it's own beach with its own free sun loungers and parasols with a bar just above it under trees where you could get toasted sandwiches pizzas, filled rolls, etc. There was another beach which was sandy but you paid a modest fee for the sun loungers and parasols.

I noted that there have recently been a few adverse comments, mosquito's being one of them. Well you are in a very warm climate and would it make sense to take the necessary repellants. A rocky beach was another complaint, it's a rocky coast, not being able to get into the swimming pool until after it had been thoroughly cleaned, better to have good hygiene. The evening dress code was criticised, well, it was nice to sit down amongst cleaned casually dressed guests. If you have complaints, go to reception where this hotel would bend over backwards to rectify any problems you may have. It is a family run hotel and the lady who is one of the family owners is absolutely charming and takes very seriously the welfare of her guests and problems which might arise

We found the complex to be very peaceful and relaxing and will definitely be considering going there again and it will be about the same time, early June as the temperature was great. If there was one slight drawback it was being just a little out of Lassie and Argostoli but the taxi's were so reasonable that it was no real problem.

Room Tip: Go for a bungalow if you want a good sea view especially nos. 16 -29

This was our 2nd visit to the white rocks. The 1st time was before the refurb. We enjoyed it last time but didn't really like the food much. This visit was brilliant. The rooms have been refitted to a very high standard. Clean towels and linen every day. Twin sinks, fantastic shower, loads of wardrobe space and a view to die for. The food was lovely, particularly the desserts which are usually poor in Greece. We were in a bungalow and it is a little way from the hotel but it's such a lovely walk. The only complaint was there was a lot of low steps that you could not see very well. My friend fell on 1 step that was difficult to see and split all of her lip. I had previously tripped on the step and my husband stubbed his toes more than once on them. They need to have some marking on them so that you can see them. Other than that it's a great hotel. We loved the beach where fish swam right up to the shore and the cocktail bar that made the best margaritas ever. Staff were great and we don't understand people nit picking over silly little things! Don't think about going , just book it!
