Room was clean, BUT my pet hate and the way I grade accommodation is the SHOWER - the groat was black and the shower curtain felt slimey, not nice - on the plus side the shower gel was a lovely. Unfortunately no hair dryer either, which was a pain as it wasn't that hot. Overall ok. Staff could have been a little more attentive, I felt like I was interupting them!

We booked this Hotel through laterooms.com and was amazed at the price of just £50.00 inc breakfast. We arrived at the Hotel and found the staff to be very polite. We was given our room key to find we had room 1 with four poster bed. Ok room but floorboards very noisey as was the bed and was facing the main road. The bathroom was clean but ring mark around the bath, Dinner was 1st class but breakfast was not so good. We was also dissapointed that we had no service on our mobiles on 3 different networks, something I would think they need to tell people about as this is the only communication that people have. Overall stay ok but would never stay there again.

Stayed two nights in room 5.
Run down hotel with rudimentory en suite shower room. No effort made to update, grimey plastic shower curtain and black mould in shower.
Very thin walls through to adjacent bathroom.
Self Service Breakfast minimal with cheap orange juice, packet bread, packet cereal, did not go for cooked but no fruit or yoghurts on offer.

Unchanged from 70s with very little effort made.

Only good thing was cheerful service but not particularly professional.

We stayed in room 10 in the Horton Inn in July, 2006.

We had arrived early, and the room was not yet ready, so we returned at 11pm.

The room was not particularly clean. We found a green tablecloth thrown over one of the chairs. The tea/coffee tray had 1 sachet of milk! The floor hadnt been properly vacuumed either.

In the bathroom we found a Fosters Jug on the bath, hair in the sink and loo, an uncleaned mirror and some scrunched up toilet roll on the windowsill. Theyd obviously been in a hurry, because the Toilet Cleaner was still sitting on the cistern.

In the morning we were leaving at 8pm. I went down to the front door and it was locked (does this meet Fire Regulations?) The laundry man shouted through the door to let him in. I advised I was a guest and not a member of staff! Thankfully the bar man had already arrived for his shift.

All in all, I wasnt expecting 3 Star accommodation but, as a hotel manager myself, I expected cleanliness. Not to be at the Horton Inn.
