“The only way to camp!”
Reviewed 19 September 2011

Dandelion Hideaway is the perfect place for a relaxing family holiday away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.

The "canvas cottages" are ridiculously comfortable and equipped with everything you need including a fabulous roll top bath and wood burning stove. The beds are comfy with lovely thick duvets and pillows and the whole cottage is furnished with a lovely country chic feel. We stayed in Hare's Form cottage which was tucked away out of sight and very peaceful.

Our two year old loved collecting eggs from the chickens and visiting the goats and not once did he miss the television!! We went along to the goat milking with Farmer John and it was informative and very interesting!

Sharon & John are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. They have thought of all kinds of little extras to make your stay that much more special.

All in all we all loved our stay at Dandelion Hideaway and would recommend it to anyone, families and couples alike.

We had such high expectations for our stay at the Dandelion Hideaway, and these were met and far exceeded in every way! The "tents" were amazing and beautifully decorated! They were very well equipped with everything you could possibly need! The wood stove was a first for us, but very easy to use and we had lots of fun cooking on it. It also kept us warm on the one chilly night we had. The beds are REALLY comfy and the bedding so luxurious with lovely thick duvets! John & Sharon have really thought of everything!!

We had a very informative tour of the farm with John and it was so lovely to interact with the goats ... such lovely natured creatures! The 12 newborns were a treat to see too! We spent some time grooming the shetlands which was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids and adults too!

I could go on and on, but to summarise, this was a brilliant experience and I can thoroughly recommend this as a family holiday or even a quiet romantic break for couples.

Thank you, John & Sharon for a truly memorable experience and for your hospitality throughout.

Alison :)

We stayed in Badger Sett tent for four nights and had a great holiday. Two grandparents (us) a granddaughter Scarlet (6 in Sept) and two Field Spaniels - Treacle (a boisterous boy) and Teasle ( a gentle lady)
We all had a wonderful time. Scarlet loved the goat milking and pony grooming. We loved the tent and the views - particularly the sunsets, The dogs loved the freedom and the country walks. Badger Sett was ideal for a family with dogs as it was apart from the other tents and near the fields for walking and the decking at the front of the tent was copletely fenced in.
John and Sharon were perfect hosts and worked really hard to make the holiday one to remember.
The honesty shop was excellent with a great range of interesting foods and treats at reasonable prices - Can particularly recommend the cider - we brought our favourite wine but would have been happy to leave it at home and buy the cider next time.
We did not spend much time off the site and could not comment on the surrounding activities othe than Conkers which we did not like.
One of us was a bit bothered by the noise of aircraft on a night but the beds were comfortable and the bedrooms were cosy.
We did not see the badgers but were impressed with the hide and the information in it and were woken early one morning by a young badger grunting and chattering in the woods just behind the tent but did noit get to see it.
The family of buzzards flying around the farm were fascinating - particularly when the adults were trying to train the young ones to catch their food by dropping prey from the air.

We are a family of 6 Ages 34, 31, 17, 6, 2 and 4 months

I cannot recommend the Danelion Hideaway highly enough. The Dandelion Hideaway is the perfect antidote to the pace and stresses of modern family life.

The canvas cottages are just beautiful, perfectly decorated in a vinage country style that is homely and beautifully designed. Very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The wood burning stove was great to cook on we made pies and stews in it. The roll top bath is a lovely treat in the bathroom, hot running water in a tent, this is definitely the only way to camp!!

The discovery chest of games provided all the entertainment a family could want in an evening, sat around the beautiful farmhouse table, lit by lanterns and candlelight, playing dominos and tiddlewinks, much better and more enjoyable than TV or computer games.

In the morning it was lovely to be able to collect freshly laid eggs for breakfast, also available in the honesty store you can find locally produced goodies, we tried the sausages which were delicious.

Jon and Sharon were perfect welcoming hosts, very friendly and helpful. We were really interested in Jons vast knowledge and experience of farming and the influences of globalisation and supermarket culture on modern farming, this has really changed the way we are going to shop in future, all too often you forget exactly where food comes from when you purchase things from the supermarket but we are going to make a conscious effort now to support british produce and buy locally were ever possible.

It was great to be able to see the farm working and help with milking the goats and grooming the ponies. We felt like we got a real insight into a working farm.

The whole family loved every minute we were at the Dandelion Hideaway, we laughed, ate lovely food, played together and created lovely memories. Nobody missed watching television and the quality of time we spent together was priceless.

We have already booked to go back again.

One thing you must experience in life is the Dandelion Hideaway!
we took our 16month old daughter and our 7yr old son and loved every minute of our weekend away. It was so peaceful and great to spend quailty with the family.
The cottages are so clean and comfy you could live in one even with hot running water and a roll top bath.
Sharon and John were so welcoming and made us feel at home and nothing was too much trouble for them.
A perfect place for a romantic weekend or chilling with the kids away from the hussel and bussel of everyday life.
We are thinking of having our wedding there!!!!!!

This is the first time I have ever wanted to write a review - even though I have been using trip advisor for years.

Sharon and John are the most fantastic hosts at their beautiful farm.

The tents are canvas cottages which are clean, inviting and filled with everything you could need for a relaxing trip.

We went with our 2 1/2 year old daughter who on the last day - having gone to collect fresh eggs from the chickens - that this was "the best time ever".

The weather the weekend we went was atrocious but it in no way detracted from our holiday. There is lots to do on the farm and it is perfectly located for day trips.

I've not stopped going on about the farm and I'm already looking forward to going back.

this is the 5th time we have stayed at Jon and Sharon's farm and it gets better every time; They are both so lovely and welcoming you feel like you have stayed in a 4 star hotel rather than a tent ; although it is hardly a tent with very comfortable beds hot water and a roll top bath; and on top Sharon's excellent cooking; I would advise anyone to go and spend time there; We take our three girls 8 10 and 6 and they love the fact that they can go off and see the goats and run around the fields etc whilst myself and my husband sit on the deck watching them and the lovely sunsets; My youngest daughter is disabled and we have had no trouble taking her at all ; she enjoys being pushed around in one of their wheel barrows;
