The Dandelion Hideaway

We live in a city and normally holiday in cities mostly because not having a car limits us. However, I was lucky enough to win this holiday and so we looked up train times and found it was a trip we could manage.

And it was worth it. My husband I and loved the farm, the wonderful canvas cottages with the warming stove. And for my daughter it was the running wild, Enid Blyton adventure I wanted it to be. She made friends with the other children and had a wonderful time playing and exploring.

I loved the chickens and the goats. It was so good to stay on a working farm but have the luxury of our canvas cottages.

I would thoroughly recommend The Dandelion Hideaway.

We have just returned for the most amazing relaxing stay at The Dandelion Hideaway. The cottages have everything you could want for. Both john and Sharon are very passionate about what they do and it shows in the attention to detail and the most amazing hospitality. Our children aged 4,9 & 14 all enjoyed the variety of Easter activities Nd spending time on the farm. We have been home for a few hours and have already been looking at the available dates for our next trip. Highly recommend

We stayed back in July 2013 and enjoyed the peace and luxury of the Dandelion Hideway so much, that we re-booked Bluebells again for April 2014.

The tents are just as luxurious as before, the attached treehouse sleeping pod is now even cosier for the children, and the addition of an outdoor wood-fired hot tub is a stroke of genius. We started and ended most days with a soak in 40 degrees of hot water. Watching the wildlife or moon and stars, depending on the time of day.

The field which the tents face on to is large enough to absorb the activities of all the children on site and has a communal campfire for late-night meet ups and marshmallow toasting.

The farm lay on a nice amount of optional activities, such as pony grooming and hen-keeping lessons and you can help milk the goats. In fact, you don't really need to go off-site at all except to visit the pub or for walks. But if you do, there is quite a bit to do in the area.

Recommended to anyone who likes luxury with a bit of leg-work as well (such as getting the fires going or collecting fresh hens eggs). ANd if you want a hot tub, book the Bluebells tent!

Room Tip: Bluebells is the most luxurious but only sleeps 4, the other tents are equally well-appointed and sl...

Not much to say that hasn't been said already in the other reviews. From arrival till leaving, our family was made to feel welcome and we had zero problems or issues during our 4 nights and 5 days. Our 6 y/o (and wife/I) loved the farm animals and activities. The "tent" was incredible. Wood burning stove kept the areas toasty at night and was a fun experience cooking on it. Bathroom was much much more than expected and was honestly nicer than a bunch of hotels we have stayed in. We will be back again. Thanks Jon and Sharon.

Room Tip: Bring wellies. Get out and mingle with your neighbors

Just arrived home from an amazing five day stay at the Dandelion Hideaway, cannot recommend it highly enough!
From the moment that you arrive both Sharon & John make you feel very welcome, nothing is too much trouble. The tents are absolutely beautiful inside, the attention to detail is wonderful, giving them a really cosy feel. Tents are also very well equipped with everything that you are likely to need during your stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed all of the farm activities, the farm talk & tour of the goat farm, pony grooming (which is an integral part of the farm experience), and the talk about how to keep your own hens. One of the highlights for us was fetching our own fresh eggs every morning from the hen house for our breakfast, you really can taste the difference!
The farm shop was great, we used this most days, really handy to have onsite.
This is the perfect choice of holiday for children, our son of 13 never touched his i pad once! He was too busy enjoying the outdoor surroundings & toasting marshmallows over the camp fire.
I'm sure that we will be returning for another family holiday very soon,
Thank you Sharon & John.

As the year ends and Christmas approaches I often look over the pictures from what we've done over the year. The ones from Dandelion Hideaway are amazing. We not only had a great holiday we truly got to relax as a family. Staying at the Bluebells was wonderful. The kids slept in the treehouse leaving us to the luxury tent! We played board games if the kids had time to visit. But usually they had chickens and goats to see to and exploring in the woods with the other kids so we just had to read, bake and chat let the wine breathe and stoke the fire! Or lie in the sun! Blissful.

Room Tip: Bluebells has a treehouse which older kids will love but it is very dark. I made sure I had sleeping...

An absolutely incredible experience. Facilities top notch, beautifully designed interiors, comfortable beds, highly efficient log burner stove, generous supply of firewood. Hospitality totally above and beyond what we expected. John and Sharon made a massive effort to make the Halloween half term week highly entertaining for us and the kids in addition to allowing us to milk their goats, grooming ponies, toffee apple making, pumpkin carving competition. An absolutely outstanding place to stay and highly recommended. We will be returning. Thank you so much
