We were driving from Queenstown to Barrington through thick forests, mountains and very little traffic. There were signs for a coffee shop open in Rosebery but on driving through everything looked closed. We continued on and decided to stop at Tullah Lakeside Lodge where there were "cafe open" signs. The location is fantastic, Lake Rosebery is beautiful and tranquil. The Lodge itself looked a little bit tired. We ordered the pancakes (with vanilla ice-cream and caramel sauce) and two coffees. The pancakes were obviously from a packet mix and not very appetising. Coffees were just OK. However when you are hungry you take what you find.
The impact of the Lake and the outdoor gardens of the Lodge made us feel happy though.

Stopped in here as part of a fishing holiday around Tasmania. Not only was the food excellent and the view over Lake Rosebery very serene, but the barman gave us some great local fishing tips. The west coast of Tassie doesn't have many great places to get a meal but this little gem is worth stopping at.

We have been to the Lakeside Lodge a few times now when passing through Tullah on the way to the West Coast of Tasmania, and have enjoyed the cozy atmosphere by the log fire & sofa's in the informal bar area. Owners have been friendly, and we have enjoyed the Coffee's and Hot Chocolates we have ordered. Recently enjoyed a lunch there, the Fisherman's Basket we each ordered from the menu was so big that one would have been ample for both of us to share. Dormitory style accommodation is available at very reasonable prices - the property looks as though it was previously a workman's camp during building of the local dams etc., before being converted into Guest accomm., this is only our guess but the owners could confirm.

Called in to the cafe as we were really hungry. When we walked in we were gruftly greeted and asked are you right. We asked if there was any food available and was told, only if you want a toasted sandwich as Im here by myself and cant answer the phone if I have to cook something. The lady then grabbed a menu and pointed at what she was prepared to make. The pricing was rediculous for basic cafe food. We was made to feel so unwelcome. We decided to go somewhere esle and thank goodness we did. We enjoyed a beautifully hot cooked lunch and a friendly welcome at the Tullah Village Cafe.
