What a lovely place to stay! Bob and Shona invited us in to their B&B with a warm welcome and a cup of tea and made us feel comfortable straight away as did little Buster the dog. The rooms were clean, beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was great. The honesty bar was a highlight as it was incredibly cheap and it was refreshing to be trusted in this day and age! The grounds are beautifully maintained and we sat relaxing and enjoying the scenery with our gin and tonics. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

On another note - as my family and I are moving into the area Bob and Shona were quick to offer any advice or local information that they could, and for the future, which we really appreciated as we don't know the area at all.

We arrived without having made a prior booking. The electric gates swung open and we waited a few minutes just to see if they had a room available. We were welcomed by Bob who conferred with Shona (the power behind the throne!) and without much ado, were shown to a lovely, bright room with en-suite then a welcoming cup of tea and a walk round the grounds - which are kept in superb condition by Bob. It's the only place I've ever stayed where a jar of coffee and jar of drinking chocolate are available instead of those silly little plastic things that no one can ever get into without spilling half of it. Plenty of tea bags also available. Great breakfast choice. There's also a nice pub just a 15 min walk away which do evening meals.

Only had one night here but it was a good one. Lovely welcome from Shona, Bob and Buster. Comfortable room and incredibly cheap honesty bar. Sat in the hot tub in the sun with a rum and coke and Bob kindly even refilled our glasses - five star service and a great start to our holiday! Thankyou

A lovely bed & breakfast, very welcoming, Shona, Bob & Buster treated us both like family, the breakfast kept us full all day, and the room was very comfortable.....love the hot tub too! Recommend the Jolly Sailor in Ramsey for dinner.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and hopefully we will see you again in the near future. Joy Sailor is a local pub which serves freshly prepared food at reasonable prices. Got a good atmosphere and the owners are very pleasant.

We have made this our 2nd home. We stay every 2 weeks at the moment from June - September with our rather large Leonberger dog Sahara who has made friends with Buster. As soon as we pull up at the electric gates she knows where we are and we are greeted by Shona, Bob and a very excited Buster and then a lovely cup of tea Sahara jumps out of the car and the dogs scamper off playing in the beautifully kept gardens.
The lodge itself is spotless and the rooms are lovely and clean with tea and coffee making facilities, tv, tv guide, and even dressing gowns hanging in the wardrobes. There is also a large living area with a snooker table, corner suite, tv and honesty bar...... and also a hot tub just outside on the patio.
For breakfast there is a choice of fruit juices, tea or coffee, cereals and then the fabulous full English breakfast.
Russ always gets 10/10 for eating his breakfast, I usually get a 9/10 :-)
It now feels like our 2nd home and Shona and Bob are lovely, down to earth people. You wont find a better place than this.......
Hang on we've just given away the secrets of our little haven, which means too many people will find out about it and want to stay..... It's awful, dont stay here, stay at a camp site nearby ;-)
With much love and appreciation, JoJo, Russ and Sahara xx

On Arriving at Shire Lodge we were welcomed with a hot cuppa, tea for me ,coffee for Goga . The room and onsuite was spotless and had everything you could wish for. After visiting friends during the day we headed back intending to have a quick night cap at the honesty bar but ended up playing throw with Buster.Breakfast (advice Starve yourself for a week) was huge I am a hearty eater but was told off for leaving the black pudding. I doubt if you will find a better B+B in Britain. I will give Shona Bob and Buster full marks and recommend anyone to stay at shire Lodge. Excellent Harry and Goga Mitchell North Wales

My wife and I stayed at thr Shire Lodge for 2 nights and it was like being home from home. We were looked after to the highest extreme. The room was lovely and the bed so comfortable. We had a lovely bath and the water was lovely and hot all the time. We had the room with the kingsize bed. The have a small bar and a pool table. The breakfast was superb. The property has lovely gardens and everywhere was spotlessly clean. We would definitely return should we be in the area again.
It is a country location so a car is necessary. A short drive is Ramsey where there are plenty of places to eat. St Ives is about a 20 minute drive and if you like stately homes, Anglesey Abbey is about a 45 minute drive. A National Trust location which is well worth a visit.
