“Quiet But Not isolated Homely But Modern And Well Equipped.”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

Cheryl the owner and operator of this charming accomodation is rightly proud of her accomodation. Ye Olde Globe and Chequers is located in a very pleasant and quiet village. However it is not at all isolated, offering quick access to Huntingdon and Spaldwick and close to but not affected by the A1 and A14.

I stayed one nght in one of the barn converted ensuite rooms. My room was spacious and well equipped. It wasn't airconditioned but had the benefit of a large and efficient fan. The Bathroom was large and equipped with a power shower and bath. there were no shortage of clean, quality towels.

The room was tastefully and pleasantly decorated, with a great selection of branded beverages available. There was a fridge located just outside my room where cold drinks and snacks could be stored, a handy addition given the current heatwave conditions.

Breakfast was served in the main old house around a very large dining table, I chose the full English, it was freshly cooked and very tasty; preceeded by a good selection of breakfast cereals and muesli. Fresh coffee and Tea was served to order and the toast was accompanied by a choice of local Honey and preserves.

Cheryl was always on hand for a chat but gave the guest an appropriate amount of space. In fact the perfect host.

Would I recommend a stay and would I stay again? Yes absolutely Cheryls place would be an Ideal base for a quiet weekend for couples or a business stay.

The B&B is an excellent location, really rural and great for walking .its also just off the A14 so really convenient for Cambridge, London and Birmingham....
The breakfast is good quality and there is plenty of it, local produce is key.theres always an extra pot of tea or coffee if you need one.
Despite a check n of 4-30, there was still no one there until 5-30 as its only a small establishment, so ring ahead to check.
Ask for the back room in the stables, it has a great view over the fields.
The village is idyllic and sooo quiet, yet there is a good bistro pub less than 2 miles away.
the George at Spaldwick is reasonable priced

I have been staying here regularly for the past couple of years and find it's great value for money for the quality of the accommodation, service and breakfast. Cheryll is a great host and nothing is too much trouble, she even de-iced my car one frosty morning! you won't get that service elsewhere. :-)

I stayed at this B&B for 12 days because of work and Cheryll, the owner, is always extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. I stayed in the single room on weekdays and moved to the double room during the weekend when my partner came to visit. The rooms were beautifully furnished completed with comfy beds, lavish toiletries and a tea, coffee and biscuit tray (essential when you are staying away from home for a long time). The English breakfast was wonderful but there are other options too if you do not want a cooked breakfast.
The rural countryside location was very peaceful and relaxing but it means you really need a car to get to the shops and into town, which are easy to drive to.
I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to others looking to stay in the area.

We think anyone would be hard pushed to find fault with this excellent B & B which Cheryl runs to the highest of standards. We have stayed twice and feel it is remarkable value for money given the high quality of the linens, furnishings and general hospitality. The peace and quiet was especially welcome and we the bed supremely comfortable. If we are in the area again, we will hope that there is room for us.

I've been staying at Ye Olde Globe and Chequers for the last 4 years during my business trips and have thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and room. Nothing like being out in the English countryside. Being rated a 5*, prices are very reasonable and the English breakfast is scrummy. Don't miss out on this wonderful English accommodation in the hamlet of Barham, Cambridgeshire. I will continue to stay there during each trip to the jolley ole isle.

Room Tip: Just call Ye Olde Globe and Chequers.

We stayed here for one night with friends. We had a fabulous luxury bedroom with a spacious ensuite with all the luxury goodies usually found in top hotels. We had a superb breakfast. Cheryll (the owner) was extremely friendly and helpful.
