Fantastic little place to sleep after a long arduous walk on the peaks. The rooms were of a high standard for a pub. The bedroom was clean and excellently fitted out with modern pine furniture. Very comfortable bed.The bathrooms were exceptionally clean and finished to a top specification.
Breakfast was buffet style with cereal and toast whilst waiting for the hot breakfast, again of a high standard. The staff and landlord were friendly and approachable and nothing was too much trouble. The location is smack in the middle of a lovely little town, so easy access to all amenities and restaurants. No taxi needed after a night out in Skipton!
Would definitely stay again and would recommend. Thank you for a lovely visit.

Thank you Jane for your lovely comments. We look forward to seeing you again soon - even if you don't fancy walking the three peaks again.

Quality pub with excellent food. Eating area towards rear away from the main bar. Good atmosphere slightly more expensive drinks but this helps the atmosphere, a good adult pub.

Exactly what we like to hear, a good adult pub. Although children and families are always welcomed warmly, we do like people to know that the Woolly Sheep is somewhere you can come for good food and beer, in a safe, warm atmosphere. Thanks.

Booked a table for 7:30 on a Saturday night, arrived at 7:20 and were shown straight to our table. All tables were either occupied or reserved so a good idea is to book early i imagine.

The service from the waitresses, sorry not sure of the ladies names was excellent. Very pleasant and attentive and couldnt do enough for you.

We had 3 course and coffee which came to £79 for 3 people. A few items on the menu were sold out when we arrived, but there was still plenty of choice on the main menu and the specials board.

I had the black pudding to start which came with bacon and egg, lovely! Then for main course had pie and mash. The pie was beautiful. Others had sausage and mash and a very good ham and eggs. To follow we had the sticky toffee pudding which came with apple sorbet and peanut brittle. If you have room left then please give it a go, if it wasnt so light then we would definately not have had room.

Ordered liquer coffees afterwards, the only minor complaint was that the coffee could have been hotter. After such a lovely meal though this was really not worth mentioning on the evening.

I have to say we do go out for meals pretty regularly and this has to be right up there with some of the best food we have had. Very creative chef, when the food arrives it feasts the eyes which is then followed with fantastic flavours.

So if you are in Skipton then give the woolly Sheep a try, it is definately worth its high rating on TA.

Room Tip: Book early for a table.

Really glad to hear you enjoyed your meal with us. It is always advisable to book ahead on a saturday as we do get very busy. Thanks for the lovely comments on the food- the pie is one of my favourite dishes as well. I will pass on your comments to the staff on duty on the night and definitly tell the chef. Thanks once again.

Thanks to Ben and the rest of the staff for making our one night a very pleasant experience (except for the rainwater making an exceptional amount of noise - that kept us awake). Breakfast more than made up for our sleepless night - however when we mentioned this - they only charged us for breakfast. Thank you guys for no fuss - and one of the best Breakfasts we've ever had. We will be back :-) Expect us soon :-)

We visited to dine only on a Saturday evening in April 2012 and had 4 meals. Gammon and Sea Bass were excellent. Two of our party had the lamb shank priced at £14.95 each. It was served with nothing but a small pat of bubble and squeak. Lamb was ok but we felt that there should have been more accompanying it for the price, and even the gravy was sparse. I would visit again but would stick to the lower priced menu which had such delights as Bangers and Mash, Scampi and chips and Beefburgers for around the £9 mark which everyone seemed to enjoy on adjacent tables. Quite disappointed with the unimpressive lamb meals but enjoyed the evening.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed the gammon and seabass, but am disappointed you feel the lamb shank was a little underwhelming. When creating the great dishes that we have on the specials board, the chefs do their best to use good quality produce and feel that to overcomplicated such a tasty piece of lamb with mountains of garnish and veg would be to loose the essence of the dish. We do a fine range of side dishes, that we would have been more than happy to arrange for you, and hope you'll bare this in mind next time you visit. Once again thank you for your review, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Woolly Sheep soon.

Genuinely welcoming and friendly service. Large portions of quality food beautifully served.
Could have done with more veg though.
Excellent beer served at right temperature.

Had lunch here last Thursday. I had fishcake, which was really nice and obviously homemade, my husband had gammon, which was also good. It's a shame we ordered the chips, as they were very overdone and didn't taste very nice. The service was excellent though and the staff really friendly. It's a really nice place to eat, as the inn is really nice and has a lovely open fire in the front room. Also, has really good local ales. Would like to try again when next in Skipton.

Thank you very much for your lovely comments, although i am sorry the chips were not to our usual standard. We always try and use quality potatoes for our chips, so i will investigate this matter and hopefully next time you visit the chips will be perfect for you. Thanks.
