The Woolly Sheep, Skipton, is a firm favourite in our family - and remains so after our recent visit for mother-in-law's birthday.
We booked a table via the pub's online restaurant booking service, but unfortunately, even though the pub called us back to confirm the reservation, there was no table booking on arrival. However,
the lovely pub team were quick to apologise and then find us the next available table: a ten minute wait which was no problem, as we were early anyway!
Nice menu, with a good range of gastro pub dishes: slightly higher than average prices for the area - but the pub has just won Best Pub in Yorkshire - so we forgave them that :o) Specials board was varied and offered a good range of specialties - sausage varieties, fish, steak etc. in addition to the table menu.
Service was good - nice serving team, quick to take orders and no delays in food being served. All well cooked and delicious, and locally sourced where possible.
My partner and his dad sampled The Boltmaker - the award winning ale from Timothy Taylor and were very impressed. The girls had the house Chardonnay - which was reasonable.
Nice ambience in the pub and restuarant - kid friendly, nicely decorated, comfortable, and busy but not intrusively so.
All in all, a great birthday lunch again from this lovely venue - we will be back!
