Despite being a Bradford City season ticket holder (and not supporting a proper team like Carlisle United), Mick was, nevertheless, a lovely host (and a good cook, too)! I must point out that he got up to serve up breakfast at SEVEN O'CLOCK on a SUNDAY MORNING as we had to get away very early (not many places would do this!).
Our room was very clean and airy and it was obvious that it had just recently been refurbished. The location was as central as you could hope for and, with free parking, was ideal for discovering Skipton.
As a town, I was extremely impressed by how friendly everyone in Skipton is. It may be very touristy, but all the shop-workers we encountered were genuinely pleasant and welcoming. The one restaurant we went to (on both nights) was Oakley's Grill which has incredibly welcoming staff and is very child-friendly. The food was excellent too, which is also a bonus!
All-in-all, I would recommend a trip to Skipton, and The Town House is an ideal guest-house to use.
Additionally, Mick allowed me use of his 'fridge to store my cans of cider in, which was most appreciated. Also, he doesn't look old enough to have 4 grandchildren (I only mention this in hope of getting a price-reduction for our next stay!).More
