Booked 1 Double & 1 twin room 4 weeks in advance and paid a deposit,on arrival they had only one room as they had booked the other out to someone else and said they could put two mattresses on floor for 2 people, as we were 4 adults this was a no no so asked for our deposit back and then had to start looking for alternative rooms.
It was nothing like to photos, looked a bit seedy, glad it was overbooked.
Will not be booking with them again.

An unfortunate turn of events, somewhat beyond our control, led to the unfortunate situation we found ourselves in at the weekend. The group of guests did indeed book in advance, as did two gentlemen staying in one of our twin rooms. The aforesaid gentlemen took it upon themselves to stay an extra night without prior warning and left the room with all their belongings in, during the breakfast period. We therefore had no opportunity to address or remedy the situation, which left us over-booked.

When the party arrived, we tried in vain to contact the men from the twin room, which left us with only one option, which was to offer our sincere apologies and a refund. We made a full, cash refund payment and also a goodwill payment for the inconvenience to go towards the cost of a meal or fuel etc.

At no time did we ever suggest that anyone should sleep on a mattress on the floor, that is just total fabrication. We have some occasional beds which guests sometimes request to be put in a room for additional accommodation.

As for the property not being like the photos, apart from some rendering which has been replaced and not yet painted over, it looks EXACTLY like the photos. It is slanderous to acuse us of deliberately falsifying anything on the website or any advertising material and we take great offence at any such suggestion.

We do not claim to be perfect and always get things right. I am sure no hotel, bed and breakfast or guest house could genuinely lay claim to such a statement. We do however care very much about ensuring our guests are looked after to the very best of our ability and do all in our power to remedy any issues which might occur immediately.

It would appear, and perhaps naturally so, that there are a good deal of “Sour grapes” here, which is a pity. We value every guest and always want them to have a good experience, not go away with even a hint of disappointment, which is why we try to exceed expectations. For verification of this, perhaps it would be as well to view the next review, from a lovely family who stayed with us just a few days earlier.

Despite being a Bradford City season ticket holder (and not supporting a proper team like Carlisle United), Mick was, nevertheless, a lovely host (and a good cook, too)! I must point out that he got up to serve up breakfast at SEVEN O'CLOCK on a SUNDAY MORNING as we had to get away very early (not many places would do this!).
Our room was very clean and airy and it was obvious that it had just recently been refurbished. The location was as central as you could hope for and, with free parking, was ideal for discovering Skipton.
As a town, I was extremely impressed by how friendly everyone in Skipton is. It may be very touristy, but all the shop-workers we encountered were genuinely pleasant and welcoming. The one restaurant we went to (on both nights) was Oakley's Grill which has incredibly welcoming staff and is very child-friendly. The food was excellent too, which is also a bonus!
All-in-all, I would recommend a trip to Skipton, and The Town House is an ideal guest-house to use.
Additionally, Mick allowed me use of his 'fridge to store my cans of cider in, which was most appreciated. Also, he doesn't look old enough to have 4 grandchildren (I only mention this in hope of getting a price-reduction for our next stay!).

Thank you for the nice comments. We are really glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you all again soon. The children were really well behaved and a delight, you are a very nice family and we enjoyed accommodating you. Let's hope you don't need your breakfast quite so early on a Sunday again though!

Booked this B&B last minute as we were staying in Skipton for a wedding. Mick the owner was more than helpful and we could not have asked for more. He arranged for the room to be ready by 12.00 as we had asked if we could check in early as we were going to the wedding at 14.00. The room was spotless and very comfortable and I would certainly stay here again. I can not praise the owner enough he was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The location is great, in the centre of Skipton and I feel that this B&B would be great for everybody. I would recommend this to all of my friends and would certainly stay here again in the future.

Very clean rooms. Beds very comfortable with quality bedding. Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order and enough to set you up for the rest of the day. Friendly host who gave advice where to visit. We had comfortable sound sleeps all the time we were there. Excellent value in a convenient town centre location.

Stayed on a Saturday night in this b&b, owners are friendly & helpful & live in. Felt quite uncomfortable hearing the owners 'doing the deed' and then snoring very loudly which kept us awake most of the night as their bedroom was next door. Very creaky floorboards in the loft which also keep you awake if people are walking around. Very noisy outside as there is a lounge/bar & I guess the smoking terrace backs onto the b&b because we heard screaming, laughing & shouting most the night. Room nice apart from bed - the headboard is so loose it felt like the bed was going to give way just by sitting on it. Mattress extremely uncomfortable so had the worst night sleep ever along with the noise etc. breakfast good & filling. Would stay again if we weren't in same room/bed. Good location

Very central location for Skipton and also handy to reach from train or bus stations. We let them know we were arriving early in advance and our room had been made ready in anticipation of this which was great. Room was very clean, lovely comfortable bed. Breakfast was freshly cooked each day - perfect to set you up for the day. It is a great value place to stay - other hotels/ bed and breakfasts in Skipton seem to have put their prices up a lot in recent years so this is a welcome find and ideal as a base for a weekend.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to review our facilities. We alsways do out utmost to ensure satisfaction. If there was external noise which is unusual, all we can do is try to investigate where it might have come from and if there is anything which might be done to prevent guests from being disturbed in the future.
