“Ackroyds wine bar - big disappointment”
Reviewed 14 September 2013 via mobile

My fiancé and I have been looking forward to visiting this wine bar for a while. It's owned by Napiers hotel and restaurant, who also own a brilliant wine shop selling amazing wines from all over the world.

We visited the wine bar on a Saturday night. First of all for the number of people in there vs floor space there were not enough seats and tables. Secondly it was unbelievably hot, yet windows were not opened. Shame as the decor and setting is lovely.

The biggest disappointment of all though was the wine list. As a wine bar I expect a good choice of wines, rather than the laminated piece of A4 paper with a handful of each on. There were 14 in total and no specials. Given the bar is owned by a specialist wine shop that is excellent and located across the road and who probably supply them, I'm surprised and so disappointed about what could potentially have been a. fab addition to my local town of Skipton.

“Ackroyds Wine bar????”
Reviewed 14 September 2013 via mobile

To call this a wine bar is farcical. Selling 5 whites & 5 reds does not make you a wine bar. I was really looking forward to enjoying a long wine selection but instead I had to pick from a cheap laminated depleted menu. The seating volume compliments the wine selection. To sell more other alcoholic choices than wine makes you a bar..... Not a wine bar.

“Cancelling tables”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

Napiers have rung just 24 hours before my night out/meal to their restaurant and have cancelled my table (which had been booked for 4 weeks!!). Their excuse was a party had also booked for that night and had increased their numbers just this morning, so I have been asked not to go! Will NOT be visiting them again, or recommending them. No compensation was offered, and I am left trying to find a reliable restaurant at very short notice for a Saturday night! A special anniversary has been spoilt.

“excellent service”
Reviewed 5 July 2013

We had a lovely meal here, we had not booked and we were welcomed in. There was a great choice of steaks, however we were all interested in the exciting menu. I had a very tasty Lamb Kofta for starters and the chicken breast with tabouleh salad for main enjoying every last bit. The house white wine went down a treat with the meal. I was full but when the rest of the group suggested desserts to share I am really pleased we did. The eton mess was great. It was a lovely atmosphere, we had great service from all the staff and we all agrred it had been a lovely night out. Really good value for money.
