Every time we spend time in Yorkshire, we have a trip to the Copper Dragon in Skipton. In the past we have always had excellent food and service. Unfortunately this time, although the food was as good as always, we were disappointed by the service. The young woman who served us was very pleasant, but after each course, when she cleared the plates all she said was 'was it OK'. The young man, who seemed to be in charge and although he was very efficient, I felt uncomfortable, he just wasn't friendly, there was little conversation, in fact he looked bored and I felt as if we were an intrusion. i noticed he was more animated with other diners. It put a damper on what was supposed to be a lovely occasion.

Ate here after watching Le Tour de France in Skipton. Don't be put off by the industrial estate. The food was very good and the beer was great, well if a brewery can't serve a good pint!

The only negative was that it was a shame to be in a place with no windows on a very sunny day.

What a surprising place this is, we expected a small brewery with a tiny makeshift bar selling their beers, its actually a very chic bistro selling excellent food, a well stocked shop and of course the beers it produces on sale in excellent condition. 10/10

We went here for a weekday lunch, on the recommendation of friends. It was a nice sunny day, but oh my goodness, the restaurant has no natural light and is so dreadfully gloomy. Maybe a place to go in the dark winter months. Craig, who served us, was lovely and helpful. We tried all five beers that were on but, sadly, they were just bland, as we knew they would be - sorry, Copper Dragon, but your beers are a shadow of their former selves from a few years ago. We both had the wild mushroom and tarragon open lasagne with parmesan cream, which was pleasant enough but not outstanding. My husband had the Yorkshire cheese plate, which was nicely presented and the cheeses were excellent. I had the pear & coconut Bakewell tart with cardamom ice cream, which was pretty good, although the ice cream was a bit too sweet for my taste and I crunched on a whole cardamom pod, not great. The total of £40 for a good lunch with 2.5 pints of beer was reasonable value, but sadly I don't think we'll be in a rush to return.

Since appointment of latest Chef? the menu has become below average and stodgy. If not for Craig and Pete there would be no atmosphere as staff continually change. The quality of ingredients is questionable and overall standard way below when first opened . There is to much competition and as the industrial setting does not help the whole experience can be likened to eating in an eastern European transit camp.
Great shame. A once excellent establishment destroyed by a drop in standards in the kitchen.
SUGGEST A RETURN TO CHEFS OF CLASS and ABILITY THEY STARTED WITH .
