Owner description: The best sixty minutes of rib-tickling historic escapism you'll find in Skipton. Our canal trip promises you a guided tour that's fun whatever the weather with the finest countryside views you can get without moving your feet. Your guide for the canal tour is award-winning comedian Dave Spikey of Phoenix Nights and 8 Out of 10 Cats fame. With his characteristic Northern patter, Dave takes you on a whistle-stop tour of Skipton and canal history that's refreshingly different to your average commentary. Above the jokes and laughter, you'll hear points of interest and fascinating stories of how the Leeds & Liverpool canal delivered the lifeblood of the industrial revolution through Yorkshire. There's food and drink on board too so it's a fun twist to your lunchtime break. Our lively canal trip proves you don't have to let planning or nasty weather get in the way of a good time. Our boat The Cobbydale sails at 10.45Am, 11:50am, 1:00pm, 2:10pm and 3:20pm. (The 10:45am trip runs in the high season, All trips run subject to demand).

Had an amazing day on the canal. Skippered our own barge for the day - really easy to drive with short lesson from friendly staff.
Would recommend to anyone who wants a fun day out with a difference.

I would like to relate a very pleasant experience my wife and I experienced today after taking a canal boat trip in Skipton, Yorkshire with Pennine Boat Trips. After the boat trip we went on a walking tour of Skipton which included the museum and Skipton castle which was personally recommended to us by the boat owner. While walking from the museum to the castle we discovered that we did not have our backpack containing our passports and a wallet containing cash and credit cards. We concluded that we must have left them on the boat. We immediately walked back to their office on the canal and met the Manager, He had personally taken it up to the castle hoping to find us there but we had not yet arrived there, so he brought it back to his office. He refused to accept a gift for his kindness. John from Canada.

I organised my retirement celebration with work colleagues as a canal bot trip with a cream tea.
Even though the weather was dreadfully wet and cold, the boat was warm and comfortable, the scones really good and of course, everyone liked the bar.The staff were friendly and everyone thoroughly enjoyed a different experience and thought the trip good value.

A good glass of wine in hand, a beautiful day and a trip down the canal - what more can I say. Excellent.

It was a lovely sunny afternoon, and as this was my first holiday in Skipton decided to have a trip down the canal as staying very nearby. Cost was £8 for one hour trip, not really a lot to see but at least can say I have been on a "Rosie and Jim" type barge/narrow boat!
The taped commentary by Dave Spikey was very hard to hear and I am not old or deaf!! What I could hear sounded like it was being read off a sheet and even the so called 'jokes' were read with so little interest!!
Still it was a nice sunny afternoon but wouldn't bother doing it again.
