Well, thank The Lord for the Bull at Broughton. We had intended on going to Billy Bob's, but there were so many people you could barely see the floor. So, we turned back and stopped off at The Bull instead. And what a pleasure it was. Despite the very popular Tough Mudder being on close by, we were attended to promptly by very courteous staff and seated in a quieter part of the pub. Waiter service was also prompt. Drinks arrived quickly and orders were taken. Congratulations to the chef on a beautifully cooked steak for me and an ample beef Sunday lunch for The Boss. What was noticeable was The Bull's attention to using quality produce, cooking it freshly, and extremely well. It is a Ribble Valley Inn and we have tried another of their pubs, the Highwayman near Kirby Lonsdale. To my mind the quality of food on offer was the same, which is notable, as my experience of chain restaurants is of variable quality food, so congratulations to them. As a result of the excellent food quality, the prices are a little higher than you may expect. But, as a one off visit, we were both happy at the value. Atmosphere in the pub was calm and pleasant. We would certainly consider returning, but, as I have said, only for a special occasion. We most certainly
won't ever be returning to Billy Bob's. The antithesis of The Bull.
