Description: This is a very low tech business with no internet profile or web site, just the friendliest, best value, snacks, desserts, tea-time treats, sunday roasts and traditional english staple dishes that anyone with a hearty appetite can reslish. Its sited in an old extended cottage-style building 50 metres from the Leeds/Liverpool canal about 15 mins drive from Skipton, and with exception of Xmas Day is open every day of the year apart from the family's chosen holiday week (usually Feb), but only until 5pm each day. Food is plentiful, all main meals include ample fresh & beautifully cooked vegetables on a separate platter (along with a delicious gravy boat if needed). Popular with walkers (from either Lancs or Yorkshire, being a few minutes off the Pennine Way) , and cyclists aswell as visitors arriving by car, and customers from the nearby riding school. No matter how sophisticated the customer - and we've taken plenty of visitors there - we have never been disappointed by their food or service. Being too popular on sunny sundays, when the garden swells the covers, is their main hold up. Fab, simple and classic roasts, and truly home made meat pies, and lashings of tea top ups - though they do serve alcohol - are their strength!! And lovely easy, after food walks available on the canal banks nearby. The restaurant is signedoff the main A59, adjacent the hamlet/pub in East Marton just 1 minute down a quiet back lane.

“big breakfast”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 via mobile

Cycled from gargrave for a shared big breakfast but found no tables spare that had umbrellas.the outside area was very busy. It was a very hot day and I wasn't going to sit in the sun.
We went off for a short cycle ride and returned to a completely empty outside eating area so sat under an umbrella.
The menu stated 2 fried eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, tomato and black pudding ,and toast but no jam.
Luckily it came with 2 sausages and 2 rashers of bacon, so there was enough to share.
Very nice meal and excellent sausages and bacon.

“Lovely Father's day lunch”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Having come back to the UK from living abroad we, have not had a meal that met the standards of
Cyprus. Have been living in the UK for 18 months now and been out many times.
Today was the best meal we have had! The food, service, location were excellent. Warm welcome as we arrived. Best to book though. Just a shame about the weather.

Roast beef dinner. Meat very tender and served with 2 types of potatoes and 3 types of vegetables. Lashing of gravy and Yorkshire puds. Puddings choice excellent, good portion sizes.

Will be back to try the afternoon tea.

Thank you!

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

We dropped in on the Cowling-Malham leg of the Pennine Way. Monday lunchtime in May, so it was quiet, but still open and the lovely, friendly staff served us a fantastic lunch. Wild rice and spinach loaf for the veggie, toasties with chips for 2 and a full roast beef and Yorkshires for me. All were generous portions and tasty, with plenty of nicely cooked and presented veg to go with the two 'roasts'. As an occasional meat-eater, I have to describe that roast dinner as an almost religious experience - especially the gravy. This will be a definite calling-point any time I'm in the area.

“A little gem”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

What a great little find. Well worth a visit. Fantastic home cooked quality food. Great friendly staff, liitle extras Ie: Whilst my husband had a starter, the waitress brought me a warm roll and butter to nibble on whilst he enjoyed his starter. The sunday lunch was melt in the mouth roast beef with the best gravy i have ever tasted and plenty of it. I had opted for 2 course sunday lunch and could not fit in my pudding, i could still choose from the great selection of puds and take it home, or just pay for one course. Yes i was eating pudding in front of my tv later that evening. We went for a stroll down the canal 50 mt from restuarant after lunch, again great surroundings in lovely location.
