A real piece of history in our own town. The castle is certainly worth a visit. Not just a ruin like other castles. The rooms are empty but all labelled with information of what the room was used for. The stairs can are steep in places for young children so caution is needed. Definitely not for children in prams/ buggys. Saying this, I have taken my young children every Sunday and we have enjoyed every moment of exploring the grounds and castle. The special days that are put on are amazing and my young son treasures the moments of dressing up in chainmail and a helmet, being given a (wooden!) pike to hold. A year's pass is amazing cheap and worth every penny.
