“well prepared and delicious French Bistro food”
Reviewed 14 June 2011

We have been here for dinner in the lovely upstairs dining room and for drinks and charcurerie in the bar downstairs. The chef patron 'Luc' is a proper French charmer and the food is delicious and well priced. A place you can really kick your shoes off and feel at home in. Bravo!

“A refined, relaxed oasis in a busy town.”
Reviewed 3 June 2011

Thanks to a friendly local resident who responded to our request for a nice place to eat by leading us through the market to Le Bistro des Amis, we had a wonderful lunch. It was one of our top two or three meals in two weeks of touring Yorkshire. We opted for the semi-formal upstairs dining room that overlooks the High Street. The service was courteous and attentive, and the music was lively but not too loud. My wife had a hearty Beef Bourguignon and I had hake done perfectly, with crisp skin, on a cylinder of partially mashed potatoes, and what the English call mangetout as a vegetable but what we in the States call sugar peas. Both were delightful. The wine selection was nice and the portions generous. This restaurant is worth a trip of many miles.

“DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN”
Reviewed 26 May 2011

Visited three times in the last two months and have tried the specials menu and the set 2 or 3 course menus (which includes roasts on a Sunday), Menu varies but there is always something for everyone - even vegitarians. A warm welcome, excellent food and quick, friendly service.
