I decided to take my partner for a birthday meal to Le Bistro. We only decided the day before and they managed to squeeze us in. We sat in the upstairs restaurant which has a very nice ambience. We were just in time to take advantage of the menu of the day. We had a starter and a main each, but were unable to manage a desert. The food was well presented and hot, and also tasted excellent. The staff were very friendly and the service was very good. My only criticism was with the vegetarian choice on the menu of the day, which I have with a lot of restaurants today, is that the vegetarian choices of risotto or pasta for a main lacks a bit of imagination. I would not let this put me off and would definitely go again as the quality and taste of the food was excellent.

We had a wonderful Wednesday evening here, with friends who live in Skipton. We were shown upstairs to a lovely room and seated at a table at the far end with really comfortable chairs. The restaurant was quite busy. The excellent value Early Bird menu was too early for us but we were delighted with the choices on the regular a la carte and the daily specials menu, which included several tempting fish dishes. We had starters and mains - all delicious and very well presented, with great attention to detail and generous portion sizes which left no room for puds! My starter of bouillabaisse was just wonderful, really delicious and my husband loved his salad with belly pork and black pudding - fortunately we'd ordered fairly light main courses after these quite filling starters. The service was very good too and the bill was quite reasonable for such a high quality restaurant - with drinks to start, 2 courses, wine and coffees it was about £28 per head. Highly recommended.

This is a french restaurant in the centre of Skipton. It has a very varied menu at reasonable prices. There is also an early birds menu for a fixed price which is good value.

Lovely bar area downstairs with a fantastic atmosphere. Staff are friendly and service is good.

Food is excellent.

Is always my first choice for eating out in Skipton. Everything from their Olives nibbles to the a la Carte is always good. And last weeks Sunday lunch [wild boar] was excellent. Beers pretty good as well with their offerings from local breweries.

Le Bistro is one of the best restaurants in Skipton. Luc is a charming owner and the food and service are excellent. There is a wide choice on the menu including always a steak, usually a beef casserole dish and always a choice of fish dishes.
The place is always busy with a great buzz and to get a seat in the upstairs restaurant on a Friday or Saturday it is certainly necessary to pre-book. There is a downstairs bar where you can also eat in a more casual setting or just have a drink or, during the day, a coffee..
Le Bistro is open all day and does a traditional Sunday lunch of roasts too. It is handy for the town's main central car park and overlooks Skipton's busy and thriving High Street.
