“Fabulous bistro”
Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

We were recommended this place by a man in a pub but he clearly had good taste. We ate here on a Monday night and the place was busy. The bar also serves a couple of real ales which was good to see. The cuisine is proper French cooking, maybe slightly rustic but superbly done. Didn't make it to dessert as the main course portions were generous. I definitely come here again when next in the area.

“Evening meal”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Had this place recommended to us, so although we don't normally do French, it was really nice. The service was good, the place was nice and had a good atmosphere. The food was very good, and there was a nice selection of wines. It seems to do well all the time, so booking would be worthwhile. Would certainly go again.

“Great Bistro”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

This bistro runs like a French brasserie. Not surprising since its owner is the ever charming French patron Luc Daguzan and his friendly English staff. It’s as equally good for lunch as for dinner or just a coffee and a cognac. It’s a friendly and convivial place. There's a more formal dining area upstairs – although it’s still very relaxed - and less formal one downstairs. It’s also conveniently located just off the High Street. The food at this bistro is consistently good. Indeed, I can honestly say, and we have dined there on numerous occasions, that my wife and I have never been disappointed by the quality of the food. I’m pretty fussy about the way my fish is cooked having worked in the maritime cities of Oslo and Stockholm and Le Bistro des Amis does it perfectly. The meat is good too because it’s sourced locally. The lunch menus are very good value. Wines are reasonably priced too.

“Excellent Sunday lunch”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Gorgeous large onion tart for starters. For the main, I had the Roast beef, which was excellent. The sticky toffee pudding was also very scrummy. Highly recommended
