We were out with friends and decided after 10 pin bowling in skipton to stop at the first hotel/restaurant we came to. What a disaster. We ordered drinks at the bar, there were two ladies behind bar chatting,my wife asked for lemon and lime after finding our seat she decided she had got soda and lime. They were so busy chatting we might as well have not been there. We asked if we had to order food at the bar and was told here at the bar. I think they need lessons in customer service. Then my wife noticed the chef floating about and she decided his apron was in need of a good clean in her opinion. If that was his personal hygiene what was the food like with that we walked out. Had the bar staff been up to standard friendly ,helpful we might just might have tried the food. From there we went to brown cow at chatburn wow what a difference .

Stopped off for sandwiches on our way to Harrogate. Enjoyed excellent fresh barm cakes with huge slices of hand carved ham and egg mayo with crispy bacon. All delicious and very quick. - copper dragon bitter choices superb. Would thoroughly recommend a visit!

Don't usually write reviews but felt compelled to after today's meal. Been here a few times In past and was lovely but assuming it must of changed hands. Lady at bar was rude and didn't seem to want to serve us. Waited ages for anyone to come and take order. Food was very poor. Small portions and meat was like leather. Salad old or unwashed and mash probably reheated. Despite saying (when asked) few times that meat was tough they didn't offer any alternative or otherwise. Felt custom not valued. Won't go again - on plus side nice looking pub with cosy fire and nice views. Ok for a drink! Pub was quiet even on Easter Sunday for food which says it all too.

We had a meal here with family on Valentines evening...the food was brilliant, the atmosphere cosy with the fires roaring. What really made it for us was how child friendly the pub is, nearing the end of the evening we had a little grumpy and tired boy who Rachel was exceptional with, she coloured with him, chatted with him and even sent him home with all the balloons from the evening which he had been eyeing up (he was thrilled!). Thank you! Would highly recommend this lovely pub for a meal and we are planning another trip with other family soon.
