“Hit and miss!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

We visited today as a last minute desision, we were very hungry and went to the main building to see about getting a table, we spoke to the girl not he door who told us that if we wanted a booth it would be about and hour but the bar like tables are first cone first served so if one comes free then grab it! She also told us there was a barn round the back where we could AIT to wat food so we divided we would head round there, it was throwing it down and most if the tables were wet through and all the dry ones were taken up with other families and children playing as the tables wee located in the play barn. We noticed an American bus that was also used for dining and there were 3 tables free in there for the 20 mins we were in the barn whilst our son was playing! We went back to the girl and asked about these tables and she said that it would still be a wait as she still had names on her list for a table although there was no one stood in reception waiting! We eventually managed to get a little rocking covered table outside which was OK but the table hadn't been cleaned and wasps were flying round the maple syrup jar! We asked someone to clean it up and they did cone out straight away! The table was in a good location as the huge outdoor play area was at our side and we could watch our son playing on the park whilst we waited for our food. Food was very quick considering it was so busy and it was tasty. The fries were lovely! We enjoyed an ice cream afterwards with free sauce and sprinkles! Overall not the best of experiences as it seemed there was just no organisation on the front of house with people waiting for tables and tables clearly empty! The park itself is fabulous for children with lots for them to play on.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review kellywilki. Whilst we’re really pleased to hear that your family enjoyed the food and play areas at Billy-Bob’s so much, we’re truly sorry to hear that we didn’t hit the mark on our service. Our whole team is dedicated to providing excellent service to every customer, so we’re really disappointed that we let you down.

It sounds like we didn’t explain as clearly as we should have the options for seating, i.e. the diner or schoolbus, or how our ‘table waiting’ system works, as although it can appear when you come in to meet our host that there isn’t anyone waiting, it’s because we take people’s phone numbers and give them a call when their table is ready (that way the children can play in the play areas while you wait for a table). Additionally, we’re sorry that the table you chose outside wasn’t cleared before you sat down, we do appreciate that it’s not a pleasant start to your meal, and do always try to ensure tables are clean and tidy all tables before the next guests arrive.

We’d like to thank you for your balanced feedback, and hope that you’ll come and visit us again soon so that we can have the chance to show you what a visit to Billy-Bob’s should be like, as we may not be able to do anything about the weather or the wait for tables, but we would like you to always feel that you are being looked after while here. We’d also like you to know that we are aware of the pressure on our inside seating at busy times, and are addressing this in our plans for an extension with lots more inside seating.

“Busy, buzzing and brilliant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014 via mobile

We called in to Billy Bob's on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The place was packed to the rafters. The complex features two play areas one of which being an outdoor wooden play space with swings, slides, climbing frames and wooden tractors. The other play area is a hay barn with rope swings, slides and crawl tubes. Both of these areas were in extensive use on our visit. There is lots of outdoor dining space overlooking the play spaces including several funky swinging carriages. Outside there is also a ice-cream and soft drinks bar.
Inside the diner there are 50s style booths and tables, and counters serving ice- cream, coffees, soft drinks and shakes and taking orders for hot food. Despite it being really busy, service was friendly and efficient.

There were no free tables inside but as it was a lovely day, we were happy to sit outside. We ordered our food and drinks at the counter giving our table number and our food was brought out quickly. I had the Texas chilli burger which was delicious and ample. My sons had the plain Jane burger and pulled pork burger with fries. The fries portions are plentiful. My son said the pulled pork was a little dry. We also had root beer, Dr pepper and mountain dew to drink. Our bill came to £30 which was very reasonable for what we had.
Whilst the children burnt off some calories in the play barn I consumed a few more in the shape of a raspberry shortcake and pistachio ice-cream. There are dozens of wonderful flavours to choose from.

If you are looking for a fun dining experience for all the family set in beautiful surroundings, you would be hard pushed to beat Billy Bob's.

“A fantastic birthday trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014

We went today to celebrate our grandson's 8th birthday and had a wonderful time. While the children played in the barns for £1 each, we went to book a table. The friendly young lady took details of our party, number of adults and children, and our contact phone number. She said she would call us in around half a hour. In fact, it was after about 10-15 minutes. I made a list of our menu choices and handed it to the lady at the counter, paid the bill and went back to our table. Our drinks were brought very quickly and, despite it being very busy, our beautifully cooked meal did not take long. We all enjoyed our meal. All the staff were really friendly and seemed interested in knowing how satisfied we were with everything.
The children then played for a while on the well equipped playground before having another session in the barns.
We all had delicious Yorkshire ice creams and cappuccinos before leaving the venue.
I can thoroughly recommend the whole campus. Being a warm, sunny Saturday, it was extremely busy but this in no way marred our enjoyment. The birthday boy said it was his best birthday ever!

“Delicious food and fantastic ice cream!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014

I've got to admit I wasn't sure what to expect when we visited the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Farm and Billy Bob's Ice Cream Parlour. The website could probably do with some images of the diner / children's play areas but not a big deal. We visited because a few of a friends had been and said how good it was so we decided to have a picnic at Bolton Abbey followed by some nice ice cream at Billy Bob's.

When we arrived it was quite busy but it didn't take long at all to find a table. We ordered a burger and chips to begin with, was very impressed with the high standard of food and friendly service, the children were having great fun playing on all the outdoor toys whilst we were eating our burger and chips, was very delicious have to say. Decided to then go inside and order some ice cream, young girl who was seating everybody - didn't catch her name but she was very helpful, friendly and called me within 5 minutes to say that a table was ready. We ordered a banana split and 2 ice creams for my daughters, banana split was delicious and the portion sizes on the coned ice cream was very delicious, prices over all very reasonable and good value for money.

My only disappointment, 2 things and they are both very minor which is the reason I am scoring you a 4 and not a 5. I would have liked to see some of the manufacturing process that goes into making the ice cream. The other being charging a pound per child to play in the other play area, to be fair it's not a lot and I don't mind paying that but just didn't get why there was a charge as the children could play in the free area.

Overall a very positive experience, read a few of the negative reviews about tap water etc but we didn't experience any of these issues. Found all the food and ice cream we consumed to be delicious and staff very friendly and helpful. All the staff seemed quite young but don't have any issues with that as they are working hard etc. Would definitely return and enjoy the delicious food and fantastic ice cream! Sorry for the long review!

“A great family day out - think the adults enjoyed it more than the kids!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

It's a great place to take the children when it's a dry day. Think it's the best burger I've ever had...and what a bargain at £6!! The rope swings in the barn are a definite must do!
