I was meeting my sister for lunch but hadn't decided on a venue, it was damp and raining and as this pub was relatively near to where we had parked the car we went in. We were pleasantly pleased with the interior, very welcoming and typical english pub, with a good atmosphere and quietly busy. We found a table, selected our food from a good variety of dishes reasonably priced and some meal deals. We ordered at the bar and were served quickly pleasantly and efficiently. We did not have long to wait for our food and when it arrived it was well presented and tasted delicious. The staff were very pleasant and efficient, we would certainly return

Room Tip: only called in for lunch

Just called in on a Sunday afternoon with my wife, mother and mother-in-law for a quick drink and a quick snack. Pub was very busy and had football on TV on in the main bar but we sat in one of the dining areas which was quieter. The 3 ladies had a tea and I had a lager - there were a good range of beers and lagers on offer. We just had a bowl of chips each for a snack but the meals arriving on the nearby tables looks excellent in quality and quantity - the menu had many choices. Service was good and quick - it's a "remember your table number and order at the bar" place. Kids are welcomed and there were a couple of high chairs on offer. Will probably call again at some time for a full meal.

Two of us ate at lunchtime Sat 6th April 2013. There is a wide choice of pub grub on offer at very reasonable prices with meal deals available. There are dairy free and gluten free options. The service is swift and friendly and the staff are helpful. The food is well cooked and well presented. There is a wide variety of ales on offer and the pub is well situated in the centre of town and is ideally placed for the market and other amenities such as the castle and church..

We stayed at this hotel mid week and found it very disappointing. It was very over priced in comparison to the accomadation advertised in surrounding areas when we arrived. Double the price in fact (£100) for a very dated and run down room. We were given the superior room (room 1) which meant that we had a double bed each. No complaints about the comfort of these beds but the room was cold and when we requested that the heating be adjusted we were given an electric fire (not meant to be portable may I add) that sparked when it was plugged in and although it achieved it's aim it was no doubt a high risk fire hazard. Breakfsat was ok (ish) but my friend and I both expected a better standard of room and quality of food for the price that we paid. We didn't participate in the evening meal there - instead we ate at the Bistro next door which was very nice. On a positive note it was a bust place late afternoon/evening and the atmosphere was good. Staff there did try to be helpful.

Room Tip: Room 1 is the 'superior' room. And that's the one we were allocated. Pity that this is d...

First visit today but won't be our last! Called in for lunch mid-shopping. Ordered from excellent varied menu. Our opinion? Well cooked food, good selection of well kept real ales served quickly by friendly, welcoming staff and real value for money. One piece of advice - go for the WONDERFUL 'Rocky Road' pud, but don't eat for 24 hours beforehand - it's delicious and it's MASSIVE! Not for the fainthearted weightwatcher!

We stayed overnight at the red lion. The pub was great, good atmosphere and good beer, the parking not good,we had to park in a street 5min walk away because of the market setting up the next day.there is room for 4 cars behind the pub but these are always took up.The staff are quite friendly but the room (room 2) could have been better. The room was dated but clean and quite small and the bathroom was cold as the radiator did not work. The matress was uncomfortable and you could feel the springs. It was noisy till around midnight but we were told about this then quite noisy in the morning with the pub being on a main road from around 6.30am.The breakfast was acceptable with a cooked english, cheap orange out of a carton but the toast and cereal were good.Overall our stay was ok but will not be going back as we thought the room was overpriced at £70 but it was the only one available so we took it.In our opinion this is a 1 to 2 star accomodation.

Room Tip: only 3 bedrooms in the pub,i would imagine all the same standard,go somewhere else.

We stopped overnight at the Red Lion in Skipton the room was spacious and well appointed, and warm.
Most of the rooms over look the Main Street and being a market day the day after we booked in we were told it would be noisy from about six thirty in the morning due to the Market setting up, there was a little noise but nothing to disturbing.
The pub downstairs is very pleasant and the staff very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was well cooked and presented well.

There is limited car parking at the pub and I suppose you take your chance we managed to park ok.

A resonable stay of r the tariff paid no complaints.
