Description: The Priests House is a function venue specialising in weddings, medieval banquets and other family celebrations, together with being an occasional fine dining establishment especially catering for Sunday lunches. The Priests House is set on a grade 1 site in he shadow of the ruin of Barden Tower in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The house itself was originally built to be the chapel and accommodation supporting the 100 or so residents of the Tower. It is truly medieval building and retains many of the original features. The House itself can only dine up to 34, but for larger events we have two marquees which can be set up alongside. The views and scenery on all sides of the house are fabulous.

I had heard great reviews for this restaurant and was not disappointed. Due to the restaurant always being fully booked we only managed to get in by chance. I was pleasantly surprised that our three course dinner was to a very high standard and would have cost at least double or treble at a other restaurants in the locality. Very pleasant decor, romantically setup. Very clean, tidy with lovely lit candles. Very pleasant staff who looked after us impeccably. What a location, beautifully kept gardens, breath taking views.

Thank you to you and your staff for one of the best nights we have ever had! This place is brilliant!

I was recommended the restaurant by a friend and booked well in advance for a Sunday lunch at 12.30 over the Bank holiday . We were shown to the table by the door from the bar area. At the time the restaurant was empty although they were expecting to be busy. The service was attentive but the food was rather ordinary and already tired and by the end of the meal I was extremely tired of the stream of heavy footed waiters and waitresses passing too close to us over springy floorboards boards on their way to and from the bar. The restaurant did not fill as I had expected it to and I found myself wishing I had asked to be moved. I told the member of staff at the till on the way out that the table was like sitting on the edge of the M1 but received only an embarrassed shrug as a reply. An apology or explanation would have made the experience better . The staff have obviously been told to ask if "everything is alright for you" which they do ad nauseam but they have no idea what to do when you say that it isn't.

I can't thank Debbie, Mark, Sean and the team enough. My husband and I had the most amazing wedding ever, beautiful location, amazing food and the most fantastic weather ever! Our party of 27 were treated to a 6 course meal fit for royalty! I can honestly say in the lead up to the wedding there was no stress at all, Debbie takes that all away, she's super organised, extremely experienced allowing you to get on and enjoy your day. Prior to the wedding, we also had a gorgeous Sunday dinner on 2 occasions and it was perfect. We will certainly be back again. Thanks so much for making our wedding day so special, love you guys loads! Suzanne & Lance x

you've really got to give the priest house a try . my husband and I got married here in November 2012 and went back for our anniversary and had the sunday lunch .firstly I have to compliment Debbie and mark for our wedding day , there was only five of us but our 3 guests said how much they were made to feel special by Debbie ,mark and all the staff . Debbie took care of everything from the décor ,flowers ,cake ,gave us contact to an excellent photographer ,and even though it was raining the photos were fun.on both occasions the food was amazing , all good quality produce ,the food was hot and we weren't rushed.honestly if you want a lovely wedding with an amazing ,happy ,stress free wedding with amazing food this is the place to book
