“Good old fashioned pub grub, in plentiful supply & well made!”
Reviewed 25 May 2014 via mobile

We popped in here for a quick lunch and were extremely impressed.

Me & t'other half selected from the '2 meals for £9.95' and ordered a children's meal for our little one.

The service was quick, the staff pleasant and welcoming, creating a warm atmosphere, and the food was excellent and freshly made. Even the kid's meal was tasty (pizza) and looked home made.

There was a good selection of cask ales for beer connoissuers, the other half sampled a pint and it was very good.

Would definitely recommend to anyone, old or young to try this place out, you won't be disappointed!

“Okay, but could be better.”
Reviewed 25 May 2014 via mobile

Called on a day out in Skipton. We hadn't eaten here before, but as there seemed to quite a decent number of patrons in the beers garden we decided to give it a try.
2 meals for £9.95, good value but disappointing quality. Particularly the Cornish pasty and chips. One side of the pasty was so tough it looked like it had been kept warm and subsequently dried up after potentially a great deal of times in an oven......
Okay with standard pub grub menu, but look out for the quality of some of the dishes.
One positive was the beer garden is a sun trap and lovely to sit in.

Reviewed 6 May 2014

walked in it looked ok if i was going to have a pint it's ok so we went to the bar to order at this point i sat down about 8 feet from the bar sean asked about the £9.95 menu and asked for fish & chips told they had none left so he asked for chicken curry then asked me what i wanted i told him
lasagne then he ordered the drinks and sat down told 40 mins for food to be cooked the curry came but no lasagne so we asked were was my meal was they ran around for 3 mins got the man who served us he then said he told us no lasagne and left £14 for chicken curry and 2 pints. the chicken curry was 5 pieces of chichen a egg cup of rice and a bit of mango chutney if thats a main meal i would hate to think what a starter was....IF YOU ASK FOR THE 2 MEAL DEAL YOU EXPECT TWO MEALS NO WE HAD ONLY ONE ITEM YOU ORDER YOU ASK THE CUSTEMER TO REORDER

“Average food”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

We called in fir a pub lunch. Vegetarian options on the menu were very limited. The menu had yow set meals for £9.95, there was on,y vegetable curry as the veggie option. I asked whether the cheese mix wrap could replace the vegetable curry, but the kitchen staff informed the attendants this was not possible, which I felt was very uncooperative given they only had one veggie option which my friend did not like. Should always have at least a choice of two

“Paltry Portions”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

When you order two meals for £9.95 you have an idea what you are about to get, basically a childs portion. What you don't expect is a babies portion. For my meal of Chicken Tikka masala I received 8 chips, two tablespoons of rice and the smallest portion of Masala that wouldn't even fill a baby let alone a child. This was our first trip to Skipton, and while it is a nice place, of all the places to eat we had to choose the Cock and Bottle. Would not return there, and would certainly not eat there. You have been warned.
