“Group Booking”

I traveled as part of a coach group where we had a one night stay at the hotel. As soon as the coach pulled into the grounds we were greeted by a gentleman who explained the hotel facilities and layout. The staff took our baggage straight to our rooms for us. We were led into the lobby where refreshments were waiting for us. We had a Christmas dinner followed by an evening of entertainment. The staff managed to cover over 100 guests for dinner and the organisation of the staff was incredible - bar far the best I have ever seen! The rooms are very spacious and modern. I would mention when booking if you are a wheelchair user or struggle with stairs as some rooms had stairs inside them to the bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic. Served as a buffet breakfast in the dining room overlooking the canal. We enjoyed it that much we have booked again for later this year!

Room Tip: Canal side rooms have a lovely view.

Got a good couple of nights sleep here, that's all you really need from a hotel!

Room was huge (I did have a "Superior Canal Side Double Room") with a decent TV, and comfortable, if not spectacular bed. Room was clean, but not that modern.

Bar was deserted, but I rang the bell and quickly got food and drink, which was good quality and value.

Staff were polite, though I didn't have any real problems.

Minor niggles....room WiFi only worked standing by the door, there was a small leak in the bathroom, and the bedsheets were a little small.

But I'd certainly return if I were in Skipton again.

Room Tip: 314 was fine apart from the WiFi.

This is a very nice hotel and normally I would expect to write a favourable review. However I stayed for a dancing weekend at this Hotel recently with a group of 100 dancers. The hotel received something like £15000 for this group booking before we started to drink. The Hotel has a lovely large function room with a superb dance floor. It also has a kitchen attached and, as you would expect, a bar at the end of the room. What a shock I got when I found out that we had our black tie dinner downstairs in a rather cramped dining room and then had to go up to the ballroom and re seat ourselves once more because the hotel refused to open the attached kitchens! However what a greater shock we were in for when the hotel refused to open the bar for the 100 dancers and we all had to go downstairs to the main bar to get our drinks. The staff on site were excellent but the management needs to take a long hard look at itself..

I have just spent 6 weeks in this hotel while working in Skipton. It's got a nice family feel to it, very friendly staff who could not be more helpful. Rooms are dated but very comfortable. Rooms on the front of the hotel are larger and a bit noisier from the road, which is busy. Rooms at the back overlook the canal and are quieter but smaller. The public areas and some of the rooms have recently been freshened up. The reception area and bar are very comfortable. The breakfasts are really good and the restaurant conservatory overlooks the canal and countryside giving nice views. Plenty of free parking and a gym, which is small and a small pool, both of which get lots of local usage so are quite busy at times. There is a cash point in the hotel car park which is very useful. A nice walk along the canal into Skipton is just perfect, although the path is very muddy in places (January and February). Taxis into town are just £5 and very prompt. I would stay here again without question!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back for some peace and quiet!

Been past the Rendezvous over the years, never having stayed there, so as my usual hotels were booked up, took the plunge and gave it a try. Overall it was OK. Good spacious and clean rooms, though a bit dated; a nice restaurant; a friendly reception. Did not have the opportunity to use the leisure facilities so can't comment here on those. Layout of the place is a bit strange, and the bar area on the first floor around the staircase didn't work for me, as a place to stay. Hotel has good conference facilities and that is probably it's market. I would stay there again, but probably with colleagues.

Rendezvous Hotel is ideal base for exploring Skipton, friendly staff, reasonable rates, nice big rooms and excellent buffet breakfast. Rooms overlooking canal are especially quite with scenic views over the canal and surrounding countryside. Swimming pool and gym facilities included, made use of pool which was very quite and also nice and warm. Free parking right outside and restaurant and bar onsite. About a mile walk to and from Skipton which has loads of shops and pubs as well as the castle. All in all an excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: All rooms OK, those at the back overlook the canal and are quieter.

We booked what they call "the best room in the house" which is their bridal suite. You would either love or hate it, we loved it. It is completely OTT, made me think of the kind of place Hugh Heffner might have. Its very pink with open plan double jacuzzi complete with flashing lights and radio, canopied bed and pink and grey leatherette walls. We thought it was very entertaining, we loved it. The pool was also pretty good and the gym was ok too - but the changing rooms are badly in need of re-furb. They were pretty grimy, old-fashioned and not very well laid out. The pool got very busy between 5 and 6.30.

The biggest disappointment though was breakfast. The choice was very limited. Scrambled egg was very tasty but I would normally eat natural yoghurt with fresh fruit. However, there was no yoghurt to be seen except a solitary small pot of flavoured yoghurt. And the choice of prepared fruit was limited to what looked like tinned oranges and grapefruit - and some figs which I dont like. No melon, no berries.

The breakfast room/restaurant was pleasant enough, overlooking the canal and the surrounding countryside.

Overall, the room was an experience, not sure what the other rooms would be like. An ok mid-standard hotel which would be much improved by a bit of investment in the leisure club, particularly the changing rooms and in improving the choice at breakfast.

And although the room was not what you would call dirty, it could have been cleaned a little more thoroughly.
