“Night out”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

We went for 2 days 1 night to Skipton and chose the rendezvous for value for money.
We spent the first day near settle then to the hotel, on arrival staff very polite and we booked in.
Our rooms were studio, Very nice and different.
that night we enjoyed a night in Skipton town ( would recommend a taxi £5 ) 15 mins walk.
Bed comfy, tea/coffee, chocolate in room.
Would recommend and stay again.

Stayed here W/E 25-27 April 2014 with a group of friends from other parts of the country. Everything was better than we all expected for a very competitive rate. Particularly, all the staff we encountered couldn't have been more helpful. The area has some of the best scenery and is certainly less busy than the Lake District (and cheaper too). The catering was excellent and they coped with over 20 of us without a hitch. As a group, we have resolved to return for another social gathering and with the pool and spa facilities attached, it will make a great meet-up spot for our large family.

Room Tip: The rooms at the rear have lovely views over the fields and canal.

It all went down hill from arriving really, there was no room in the car park due to people parking over two spaces. I mentioned this at reception, all I got was a sarcastic sorry from the miserable receptionist. I checked in, he didn't smile, he didn't do nothing but was quiet and handed me the keys. There is a sign behind receptionist mentioning something about smiling. Ha, I don't think he cared to be honest.

We went to our room, we booked a canal view. No canal view, was a view of the car park...so back to the miserable receptionist and complained, he took us to another room. Still not a cracking view of the canal at all. So we called a manager, she showed us another room, we accepted, was a lot better view. I expected this the first time seeing as I paid an extra £10!! I told her about the miserable receptionist too. I feel it wasn't value for money at all, especially with no breakfast included.

Upon check out, the manager was there, I mentioned everything and she apologised kindly and offered for us to come back sometime whether it be another stay or a meal in the restaurant. I just have to contact her. She gave me her name and number. She was really good at correcting my thoughts of this hotel.

The hotel is well located, staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely to see the canal boats going passed. The decor may be a little tired but the room was spacious and clean. There are tea and coffee facilities with lovely packets of biscuits.

First Impressions really count. We were invited to a wedding in Skipton over the Easter period and the wedding party were all staying at the Rendezvous and rooms were booked, we had a change in our plans and phoned to see if we could arrive the day before WOW what a wonderful response we got, nothing was to much trouble for the receptionist, it was a bank holiday and we weren't holding out much hope BUT no we got the room and arrived accordingly. The greeting on arrival was second to none so we were really pleased. On arrival at the room we were even more surprised a Canal view and so clean. Bags deposited we headed for the bar, there was a wedding on and the staff were really busy but again nothing was to much trouble so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing so much choice, it was nice to see the owner who took time to talk to everyone a small touch that means so much. Definitely a place marked in our book to revisit. Staff amazing, Hotel in a wonderful location and so so clean.

Room Tip: Canal side has the most amazing views.

Mixed feelings after staying here. We booked an executive suite through booking.com but were gutted that the website pictures are VERY misleading. Don't go expecting the jaccuzi as we did. There is only one and it is in the bridal suite. So cannot understand why its picture is on this site as an executive suite, as I would be amazed if you can book it from the web. The receptionists did their best to make it up to us by including breakfast and a drink in the price, but nothing makes up for something that you were looking forward to and expecting, particularly as it was the room that made us choose a night away in Skipton. We had no other reason to be there. We were also told that the executive suites are all the same by the receptionist, but this is totally untrue as we have been in 2 out of 3 of them, one had a normal bath and the other a four poster bed and corner bath.
The room we had was large, comfortable and clean, but there was a lot of water noises through the night which was annoying and disturbed our sleep.
Breakfast was very pleasant. For a buffet the food was high quality and the staff attentive. You eat looking out across the canal and beautiful hills. A real high point, as were the leisure facilities which are good quality.
Think I will book in a different way in future, not sure who to blame for our disappointment, but someone misled us. Had we not been misled, we would probably have been delighted with this room.
The mile walk along the canal to Skipton is also very pleasant.

A perfect venue for an Annual Meeting. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff with service extra to that which had been previously agreed generously offered. An excellent lunch was served by pleasant, friendly staff and tea for over 400, usually a problem at such events was served quickly and efficiently. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone planning a similar event.
