We booked the Healthy Home retreat for a group gathering (8 adults, 4 children). The house is quirky, well presented and decorated, and very spacious, yet cosy at the same time.
We had a fantastic time, it was perfect for our group. The views from the barn are stunning and the local area is great for walking. We would thoroughly recommend this property and we would definitely consider booking again in the future for a group gathering. Thanks again to Gina for the lovely welcome to the house and for keeping in touch before our arrival to make sure we were prepared and knew how to get there!
We have just returned from a wonderful weekend at The Healthy Home Retreat.
It's quiet location, accessed down a track, means it can't be seen from the road. Perfect for a relaxing weekend retreat.
The property has bags of character and history. Consisting of two old stone cottages and a converted barn, it is split over 3 levels, with the original cottage being several hundred years old and foundations dating back to Skipton castle 1,000 years ago.
The rambling but spacious layout is ideal for large family gatherings. 0ur party size of 8 adults 6 children fitted in perfectly, with lots of communal spaces for everyone to socialise, alongside little corners for some individual peace and quiet. The children loved exploring and choosing their rooms and playing hide and seek both inside and outside.
A warm and cosy atmosphere prevails throughout the house, which is so full of interesting curios, that gives it a very unique character and appeal. It is a very comfortable and relaxing place to be in. The bedrooms are all unique and are beautifully furnished and decorated. A spacious and perfectly-equipped kitchen easily accommodated us all at breakfast times. The views from the conservatory and panorama lounge were incredible. With the cottage sitting high on a hill and overlooking the Aire valley, you get beautiful panoramic views over the Aire valley all the way over to Skipton and beyond. The abundance of games and books alongside TV and Audio system allows for entertainment for all ages.
The garden is extensive and safe for small children to play in and explore. With a great south facing patio, it offers a great outdoor space in which to sit and relax and absorb the country air and views.
The Healthy Home Retreat's location is perfect, set in the countryside yet close to all amenties, restaurants and pubs.
Recommend the Dog & Gun pub a couple of miles away in which we dined on a scrumptious Sunday Lunch.
With a warm welcome from Gina, who did an excellent job of getting us acquainted with the layout and rooms, and great communications from Debra who provided lots of information to help in our planning, we could not have wished for more.
Where to start this place is fab!
Location is good, not far from a local pub and easy reach of lots of walks.
This property is lovely, warm and comfy and has lots of space! We celebrated a birthday here and really enjoyed the beautiful panoramic views. Would definitely recommend this place, easy booking, beautiful home and lots to do around or perfect for a relaxing weekend retreat.
Would also recommend getting a private diner in - this was a real treat and food was amazing!
Thankyou for a wonderful weekend, we will be back!
The Healthy Home is a refuge of eco-friendly luxury, presented with simple beauty and excellent taste. We were in a party of 8, comprising 3 family units... the kids loved exploring and choosing their rooms, then playing hide and seek inside and out, before crashing out to watch a DVD, their bodies full of the freshest air they've breathed in weeks. During the day we roamed the moors, running downhill over mossy grass, and climbing uphill to earn our dinner. As evening fell we ate well in the perfectly-equipped kitchen, and played board games in the studio room with its breathtaking view of the hills. There was more than enough space for everyone, and Gina was a wonderful host, offering a warm welcome and lots of local knowledge. Thank you Gina and the Healthy Home!
13 family members celebrated new year in this spacious house set within excellent views of the countryside. Ideal location for nice walks in the country. Accommodation is very comfortable but smallest bedroom only has a curtain instead of a door but this didn't detract from an excellent new year weekend celebration
What a fab, quirky place! Up on the hills, hidden from the road it has everything you need for a time out holiday! Rooms everywhere you look - it seemed to go on forever!! Fully equipped kitchen, loads of chill out (or party!) areas. Spectacular views too.
We had a fantastic time celebrating our good friends 50th birthday and this place was the perfect location and had amenities for all of us.
Recommend the dog & gun pub a couple of miles away too - amazing food!
We used The Healthy Home to host my Lucyoga Yoga and Walking retreat at the end of August/start of September 2017. It is such a fabulous house. The rambling but spacious and well thought out buildings mean there is always somewhere to come together as a group, yet find some time and space to be alone.
I love how all the rooms are beautifully furnished and decorated; the views are incredible. And where else would you find room to sleep 12 and for us all to do yoga with an incredible view and oodles of natural light?
I love the energy of this house, which is so positive and calming. And the little details like Faith in Nature soap, shampoo and body wash in all the bathrooms and salt lamps and crystals throughout the house. As soon as you walk in you feel relaxed and at ease. The feedback from my guests was so positive - everyone loved their weekend at The Healthy Home.
