“Best Asian food in town”

We have had the buffet meal twice now, and the variety it offers is brilliant, if you want too get away from your old favourites this is the best way to try it. The staff are very relaxed and very helpful too

“Great food but service & staff could be better”
Reviewed 1 October 2013 via mobile

On a recent visit to Aagrah, I found the service and staff struggling to cope with the volume of customers waiting to dine (both booked and non booked tables). If it wasn't for one particular member of staff being extra helpful we may well have give up and gone elsewhere. They treated us like we were on a Ryanair flight. Apart from that the food was excellent. I really enjoyed the chicken tika balti

“Aagh!”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

I'm far from being the world's biggest curry fan, but living in this locale it's hard to avoid the cuisine periodically. Down the years I've eaten in a few different Aagrah restaurants, and food-wise they are a reliable brand.
My partner and I visited on a Saturday, and not having booked were given a time to come back, about half an hour later: no problem with that, though it was starting to jar when almost an hour later we still weren't seated. Unusually for an establishment of this size, there is no bar area: this would have at least afforded us some distraction and refreshment whilst waiting; instead we just had to watch an increasing throng of bemused customers, some waiting for take-away; some opting for the buffet upstairs; some, like us, just getting hungry. Only when a table was about to become available were we invited to sit down on a sofa near the entrance, and order a drink. It was like a hospital queueing system gone mad.
Once we did get our table the food was okay, and for the price arguably a bit better than that. My starter - chicken liver tikka - was a bit dry, but apart from that it was fine. One of our waiters was rather charmless, but another was charm and good humour personified. The seating is fairly plentiful, but not crowded; decor is modern; background music is the usual traditional indian stuff that is wasted on my heathen ears - not overbearing though.
We may go back, but if it's a weekend we'll book, avoid peak, and probably go with only moderate expectations.

“Lovely Food, Lovely Table”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

We were halfway on our travels on the canal barge and decided that a curry was in order as we were extremely hungry and wanted filling up. We detected that this restaurant would serve good food by the delicious smells emanating from inside so decided to give it a go. The food was yummy and they sat us at a quiet table away from a massive party celebrating a birthday and a family with extremely loud and disruptive children. Luckily; the children left after a bit and we could enjoy our gorgeous food in a bit of peace. Everything was cooked to perfection and we would most definitely return. The staff were also excellent and kept coming over to see how we were. Lovely,

“waste of space”
Reviewed 18 September 2013

This restaurant has a prime location overlooking the canal in central Skipton - which is a pity as the food is just average & the service is appalling. These same people used to occupy another address in Skipton and seem to have taken their bad habits with them. I was alarmed when I heard that they had moved to this prime spot but felt they might be worthy of another try. Sadly, I was mistaken. Whilst the food is just acceptable the staff have continued to offer poor quality service to the point of being surly - and I am not one of those who goes in after too much to drink on a Friday night. All in all a great pity that they were ever allowed to move to this address as Skipton is crying out for a wine bar and this would have been the ideal spot for same
