My husband and I along with our 2 border collies stayed at Owl Cottage for 4 nights in mid September. On arrival we had a warm welcome from Shaun who showed us into the property. The first thing we noticed was that the cottage was incredibly clean, and that we had a welcome gift of home made Bara Brith and Apple juice, which was locally made and tasted amazing...and a treat for the dogs, which we thought was a lovely touch. The area was everything we needed for a break, with walks, views, and the relaxing hot tub, great for seeing the starry night sky. I would recommend though, that you should take your wellies as the ground in Wales can be very muddy :) We will be going back for more stays.
Thank You Mary & Shaun...
I would have no hesitation recommending this stay to anyone, the owners are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble, its very clean and tidy and very good value for money.Roll on our next stay.
Clean, comfortable & well equipped with hard floors throughout. Perfect for muddy dogs! The king size mattress was too soft and unstable for me, I prefer solid divan orthopaedic mattresses, but husband slept like a log!
Hot tub was perfect to soak tired muscles at the end of a day's walking. The owners kept the bird feeders in nearby trees topped up & so they attracted a variety of birds, great to watch from the shelter of the cottage as it rained yet again.
There is a communal laundry with washing machine & tumble drier. The cottage itself had very efficient electric radiators.
We loved the thoughtful "welcome pack" of Bara Brith, local apple juice & treats for the dogs. There were even doggie towels & blankets supplied.
Lots to do in the area. Several types of pubs in nearby Llandeilo. We liked the Angel Inn, a bit scruffy - like us! Short drive to the National Botanic Garden of Wales which was worth a visit even in April, big dome with plants from other parts of the world & large glasshouse with butterflies.
Our second time at Owl Cottage and won't be the last. We all love this place; everything cared for couldn't ask for more. Angela and Shaun great hosts and the little welcome gift of Bara Brith and locally produced apple juice hits the spot.
A great Base for exploring the area. Very clean with everything you could need provided. We took 2 of the kids & our gsd. They all enjoyed the stay. Owl cottage is enclosed so the dog could be free & stay safe.
Local tesco will deliver but we just went for local takeaways or restaurants. A good selection nearby.
Best bit is the local area but we only had time to scratch the surface on our 2 night stay.
Take flip-flops to get to the hot tubs as there is a shingle surface.
What a lovely cottage. Couldnt of asked for more lovely people. With lots of local knowledge. Hopefully be back fully fit next time and be able to see more of this beautiful Welsh countryside
