Surprising amount of the castle still standing and lots to see. Whilst there were good signs in some areas more would have been appreciated especially a sign explaining who built the castle, why it was built on this site and the history of the castle. We visited on a damp Tuesday afternoon when there were few other visitors but I imagine that on a sunny weekend the small size of the car park would be a problem.

We had a lovely afternoon visiting Kidwelly Castle - there was so much to see and access to most of the structures within the castle and there was also a walk around the remaining ramparts which give stunning views of the local area. Well worth the £4 entry fee (however as English Heritage members we got in for free!) and we would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

We really enjoyed visiting this castle, there are lots of towers to climb & ramparts to walk along, good information in the gatehouse area sets the scene well. More left standing than many castles. Good modern toilet facilities & nice shop.

Wonderful large castle with lots still intact. 1000 years of history. To keep the day happy do not follow up in the Ship Aground pub in Pembrey, which has terrible staff, slow service, tables so slopey, bottles slide off it and it's over priced.

Kidwelly Castle is located down a side road in the town with a small number of parking spaces outside. Tickets (adult, full rate) were £4 and I found this to be very good value to roam around the grounds, walls and towers of this compact Norman castle from the 12th century. There's good seating at ground level and it's not too difficult to get up the steps to sections of wall from the outer and inner wards. Good views from the walls, but if you're up to a climb up some steep steps there is also access to at least one of the towers. Ticket office/shop staff very helpful. It's well worth seeing as there's a lot of castle to be seen and nooks and crannies to explore, great as a side trip if you're visiting the nearby seaside resorts. Note although there is wheelchair access, it's up a steep ramp and over some cobbled/rocky paths to the ground level only. Check the website to see if there're any events on.
