“A Very Romantic Castle”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

There are stunning views over the estuary and lots of information about the history of the castle. Not very famous, and not much in the way of facilities, but a very good way to fill a couple of hours between a walk along the foreshore to Dylan's writing shed, after lunch in town, and then a walk back again to the Boathouse for a cream tea overlooking the estuary. Free all-day parking next to the castle (but beware of flooding at high tides).

“Absolutely superb castle! A little gem.”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Laugharne - saw it on a map and glad we took the short drive after a rainy, depressing afternoon in Carmarthen. Parking is free in the village.

The castle has enough to do for an hour and is well worth a visit. One can climb to the top of the tower for great views or walk around the walls which overlook the bay and look over the estuary to Kidwelly. There are boards which explain the castle, its history and that of the village.

A plus is that the grounds are well laid out and maintained with an area of box parterre and herbaceous beds. CADW should be congratulated for the design and maintenance of castle and gardens.

The history of this castle was well researched and there was plenty of information for you to ramble through the walls and understand what you were looking at

Had a great hour walking around the ruins and grounds of Laugharne Castle. The views from the top of the tower across the town and estuary are breathtaking.

“Castle-tastic”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 via mobile

Laugharne Castle is a great visit. The castle has been preserved to allow visitors to wander around the ruins as well as to climb inside, up the steep steps and take in the view from the top of the tower. The view is quite stunning, across the estuary and out to sea and also the village in which it's situated. For those with walking challenges, the steps are quite tricky with varying heights and depths of steps and they are not all well lit. The gardens are beautifully maintained and there are benches to sit and enjoy. Definately worth a visit!
