“A bit of history”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 via mobile

The town is quaint, the castle ruins are worth a look, and as promised lovely views. I do wish more historical information would have been available to help enjoy the castle more. It was a very quick look, and then not much more to explore. But I recommend a visit.

“Lovely setting”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

The castle is set on a cliff overlooking the estuary and across to the Gower. The town is small but a great visitor attraction because of the association with Dylan Thomas as this is where he did a lot of his writing from the boathouse just by the castle. The walk below the castle takes you along the estuary shore. A great day out and especially busy on Wednesday when there is a small market in the car park.

“Lovely Castle, Great Location”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

Laugharne is a lovely little town that we fell in love with, the castle has lovely views over the estuary. There are nice gardens inside the castle and there is a lovely peaceful atmosphere. There is a writing room perched on the castle walls where Dylan Thomas wrote some of his works. The lady in the shop was very friendly & very interesting to talk to.

“Good castle, stunning views”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

This isn't the biggest of the castles in Wales but it is certainly up there for the views. It looks quite imposing from the car park but once inside it is a compact site with amazingly well-kept gardens. There is a tower that can be climbed to see views across the estuary and beyond. These can also be seen by walking along the walls on the river side of the castle where you will find the summer house that Dylan Thomas used at times.

There are one or two information boards around the site, the experience could be improved by adding a few more.
