“Fantastic surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014

I got caught out on valentines day, so took the girlfriend to the rose. I just wanted to treat her somewhere good and not too sloppy straight after work. Wow, the meals were great. I loved the chilli scampi, with a real kick to start, and glazed duck after. Anne is a veggie but she raved about the Stilton and leek risotto. The sweets were really sexy and the panacotta with strawberries and cream- yum. We live in town, so knew we weren't going to a romantic eaterie. But the meal put some expensive hotels that we've been to shame. A very happy ending! Well done boys and girls, will be back.

“Good breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

Had breakfast here and enjoyed it although we felt it on the high side price wise .
Good ingredients although sausage seemed a bit chip shopish .

“Pub - with grub”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2013

Did not really take to the atmosphere - gloomy room & hard to avoid big screen TVs with sport or house ads. Not many customers that evening. Reckoned rightly portions would be big so shared creamed mushrooms - OK but garnished with hefty salady bits, odd with hot sauce - then lamb cutlets which were 4 of them & rather too chewy, being in fact chops & cooked through. Came with weird mix of berries in hot juice(!), good leeks & peas, & separate tub of strangely yellow & somewhat too salty mashed potato. Food ordered at bar & paid for up front. Unlikely to visit again though maybe we ordered the wrong things.

“Good value good food.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2013

We don't visit here very often but do eat here a Couple of times each May while working a show in Carmarthen showground. Each time we are usually a group of 6 at least and every time the food has been very good. The cockles and lavabread starter is beautiful and the curry if chosen hot is the hottest we've ever had in a pub but remains tasty.
The prices are very reasonable nod the portion sizes are big and good value.

“Fab puB grub!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2013 via mobile

Nothing beats this pub grub curry!! Having always been a steak eater while out having pub grub, I tried the curry after a friend recommend it, and I have to say, it was delicious! Staff were very friendly, and the Rose and Crown has a lovely eating area. Only complaint is that the food took a bit longer than hoped for to be served up, but......when it did arrive it was so delicious, it was decided that it was definately worth the wait!
