The young man who led our tour was terrific with my 11 year old nephew and 16 year old niece. He explained things so well and even gave the children a chance to try out some of the methods used in the preparation of flax before spinning. Hearing the mill at work was quite something too. Whilst we waited for our tour we heard the machinery start up and actually concluded we had heard thunder, but found the real source of the noise during our tour. The machinery really interested by nephew as did the process of beetling which he'd been learning about at school. A great experience all in all.

A National Trust property, easy to find with good parking - the guide had full knowledge of the history of the mill - a real insight into the historic use of water power in industry.

as National Trust members we had seen this on the map when touring on holiday, and very nearly missed the signs for the place as it is a bit off the beaten track - very glad we visited though as it was so interesting - Zachary gave us a super tour of the place - it is very small, and if we had been unescorted we'd probably have left in 5 minutes as there is not a great deal to see, but his explanations of the process in Linen manufacture were fascinating and 'made' our visit - we had no idea what beetling was until we went there and the final demonstration of the machinery is superb and impressive - do make the effort to visit here, and please ask for a tour and demonstration - this was one of the highlights of our visit to Northern Ireland thanks to Zachary
