“5 STAR - ALL THE WAY”
Reviewed 21 April 2013

Having dined in the Tilley Lamp on numerous occasions and delighted with the food and service, we decided to treat ourselves once again to the culinary delights in the Tilley Lamp. As always - we were not disappointed. The Staff go out of their way to ensure that there is a "home from home" ambience. We were escorted to our table by a charming waitress - Eimear - who immediately made us feel so welcome. We were glad that we had booked a table as the restaurant was buzzing. There was a very relaxed atmosphere and our drinks order was taken immediately. The drinks were brought to our table and menus given to each guest in our company. The extensive menu meant that we were spoilt for choice and a few minutes later another charming waitress - Gemma - took our order with her endearing smile.
Our food arrived very shortly afterwards and again without any fuss. As always the food was delicious and everyone in our company commented on the variety of the main courses that we ordered as well as the extensive side orders - which were included in the price - no hidden extras as is the case in many restaurants nowadays.
The dessert menu was very impressive and certainly home-made - this is a true luxury as many restaurants serve desserts which have been bought in frozen - not the case with the Tilley Lamp. Enda and Eilish - the owners were on hand to ensure that everything went smoothly but one of our party remarked that the Staff had everything in hand. Obviously Enda and Eilish put a lot of thought into Staff training and it certainly pays off. Having finished our meal, we relaxed over a few drinks and again treated with courteousness from every member of Staff. As I previously mentioned we have dined in the Tilley Lamp on numerous occasions - it certainly is 5 star - all the way for us. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Congratulations to Enda, Eilish and all the Staff!

“Mounds of Average food fired up to you!!”
Reviewed 12 April 2013

Just because they serve MOUNDS of food to you it does't make it taste better! Service was ok but the food was very average. Not really much else round the area so I guess thats why they go. Try somewhere decent and I doubt you will be back.

“Melt in the mouth steaks and overall 5 star service!!”
Reviewed 7 April 2013 via mobile

I decided to take my family out for dinner and was delighted with the warm welcoming atmosphere, buzz of conversation and fabulous scents wafting from the kitchen. The menu choices were extensive, the staff were accommodating and the quality of the local produce made for an excellent meal! I can highly recommend the American style chicken and steak, which I asked to be filleted. The meats were succulent and tender, the garlic butter and sauce accompaniment was fabulous! The desserts in offered were varied; the feather light cheesecake had a heavenly texture and my other family members spoke highly of the Jaffa orange sponge! I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough! Whether it is a quite meal with family or a night out with friends the Tilly lamp has an award winning atmosphere!

“Confirmation”
Reviewed 5 April 2013

Went here recently with my family for a meal to celebrate my grandson's Confirmation. We were a party of 28.I was really impressed by the way the staff did everything possible to ensure we all had a good day out.We had a set menu with lots of choice and in addition there was a childrens menu or reduced price for smaller portions on set menu.Even though some of the kids went for the smaller portions it was not that different as portions were on the large side for everyone. As the group arrived over a period of about half an hour the staff endeavoured to keep everyone topped up with drinks as we waited. When everyone had arrived the meals were served promptly and extra care taken to ensure the younger folk were all happy. The entire party seemed well satisfied with all four courses and the service received and there was not a single dissenting voice -not bad considering our numbers.Overall a very good experience.

“Excellent Service and Delicious Food”
Reviewed 8 March 2013

We have been dining in the Tilley Lamp on numerous occasions over the past few years and have just experienced yet another delightful visit. On our arrival we were quickly escorted to our table and greeted by a very courteous waitress. Our drinks order was taken immediately and the menus given with cordiality and a warm welcome. While selecting our food from the extensive menu, Eilish (the owner) greeted us with her endearing smile and extended a hearty welcome.
Our food order was taken immediately by one of the charming waitresses and within a short time our starters arrived. The presentation - as always - was excellent and indeed very tasty.
Our main courses were presented with excellent service and our side orders arrived at the same time which ensured that we were able to eat immediately. As with the starters, the presentation of the food was a delight to behold. Obviously the chefs took great care with the arrangement on the plates and garnished to perfection. While eating our meal, Eilish popped over to the table - as was customary with all her guests - to ensure that our meal was to our satisfaction. One of our party had requested tea and it was a delight to receive a cup that held a decent cup of tea instead of a little china cup that you couldn't get your fingers around! Well done to the person who bought the cups in the Tilley Lamp!! As the ambience was so friendly and welcoming, we sat and chatted for a while after our meal over another cup of tea and a few drinks. We certainly didn't need any supper when we went home!!! We really enjoyed the evening out and again a very big thank you to Enda, Eilish and all the Staff in the Tilley Lamp. We will certainly return again in the very near future. It is advisable to book a table as it attracts a large number of patrons - especially at week-ends.
