Myself & a friend booked the Fir Trees whilst going to the Bluegrass Festival in the Ulster American Folkpark. On arriving at the hotel another friend decided to stay also & we were very kindly uograded to the honeymoon suite which was immaculate & a real treat. The hospitality we received from John the manager & Serlaith & Lindi was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble & they went out of their way to make our stay most enjoyable. We ate in the bar that evening and the food was excellent & very reasonably priced. We had breakfast brought to our room the next morning & thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. I travel quite a lot & this type of hospitality & friendliness is very hard to find.

We called at the Fir Trees Hotel en route to Donegal and tried the Sunday Carvery. The hotel was very busy yet the food and service were first class, with 5 courses at amazingly good value. The hotel is very tastefully decorated with ample off road parking, and we will definitely return during our next trip to the N.West.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a change, it was our 3rd trip to the area in as many months. All I can say is "never again". The only good thing this hotel has going for it is its friendly staff. They always seem to manage a smile while multi-tasking between waitressing, hotel check-in and house-keeping. Breakfast is not what I was expecting, cereal with some warm orange juice from the carton on our first morning, and had to give an order for a cooked breakfast to the lady whos job it was to man reception and serve breakfast. Evening meals encountered a 15/20 minute wait before orders could be taken. Bed were too small, luckily our room included an extra single bed as this is where I slept, while my husband slept in the "double bed". All the beds in the hotel were the same size we were told when we enquired about changing rooms.Way too expensive for what this hotel has to offer. I urge anyone who is thinking about staying in the area to just drive that little bit further nearer Derry ( about 15 mins from Strabane) and book into the Premier Inn. The Fir Trees hotel has the monopoly in the area, such a shame.

Room Tip: If choosing a room go for the disabled room 203, extra beds as double is very small.

We are disappointed to read the comments of this reviewer as they are most untypical of the feedback that we normally receive from our guests.

In relation to the breakfast I can only assume that the guest arrived in the dining room ''in between'' the normal re-stocking of the buffet table (we tend to be very busy at breakfast and the table can be replenished more than once). As for cooked breakfast this is made to order to ensure that both quality standards and customer satisfaction are maintained.

In reference to bed sizes I can assure the reviewer that our bedrooms are furnished to NITB 3 star standard, and in fact the room in question contains 2 standard singles and a king size bed.

We do welcome the reviewer's comments about our friendly and helpful staff, and would also like to point out that we are a small independent hotel therefore our staff do multi task as and when required.

Stayed here for 3 days and had a lovely stay. Rooms were well presented. We had 2 twin rooms but moved to family room when it became available on last day. Family room is very spacious with a double and 2 singles. Room doubles as a disabled bedroom and has all the facilities for wheelchair guest. It was very noisy in bar area until approx. 3am on the Saturday but we had returned late so it didn't bother us. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Sunday carvery is 5 course meal for £13.95 and again excellent value for money. Only let down for this hotel is the breakfast. Had run out of orange juice and had to keep asking for things like cutlery, cups coffee. I would return as it was not much more than a B&B and better quality

Room Tip: Rooms to rear of hotel quieter. If you are disabled the room offers everything you need e.g wheel...

I recently attended a wedding at the Fir Trees Hotel in Strabane. It was a really enjoyable day, the meal was excellent and the staff were really friendly and hospitable. We had planned to go home after the wedding but we were enjoying ourselves so much that we checked into the hotel and stayed for the night. The rooms were very clean and we really enjoyed our stay, breakfast next morning was a highlight. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a social event or an overnight stay.

Room Tip: On a weekend night, request the back of the hotel.

My job takes me to N.Ireland on a regular basis and when in the North West of the province I tend to base myself in the Fir Trees Hotel. The reception is always warm and friendly , the food much superior to ‘’typical’’ hotel food, and the rooms clean and comfortable. Room rates are very competitive and there is ample working space in the bedrooms with free wifi access. Its without doubt one of the better places to stay..

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter

We arrived in Strabane on a Friday night to visit with local family. The bedroom was clean and newly redone, but the beds were quite narrow. The bath was quite small with not a lot of turning radius. The view form the window was a nasty fence with trash strewn all over the ground. We closed the curtains. The lovely girl at the front desk was helpful when we checked in, but when we went back to find her at midnight and again at 3:30 and 4:15 am to ask that they consider doing something about the noise, there was not a hotel soul to be found. Needless to say, there was a tremendous amount of room partying going on all around us and above us, over 60 people in the hallways and all quite intoxicated having no care for the remaining guests who were trying to sleep. Perhaps it was just our luck to be there on a weekend night, but we will not be returning to attempt it during the week regardless.
