“Great location and hotel”
Reviewed 7 November 2011

We spent 2 nights here and thouroughly enjoyed it. Was a great base to explore the town and the fascinating castle just across the harbour, while close enough to Belfast and the main transport links to make it an ideal stopover.

The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff doted on our kids, will be back there again next time we visit or relatives.

We spent 2 nights at the Premier Inn in Carrickfergus and I have to say it was excellent value for money. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and any time we were going through reception asked if everything was ok. The only reason that I didn't give this a 5 was that we were not to keen on the food in the adjoining Brewers Fayre. I would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay if you want to explore Belfast and surrounding area but do not want to stay in the city.

We spent a night here at the beginning of October we did not know quite what to expect . It proved a very hospitable place to stay.Upon arrival the staff could not have been any more helpful and we were quickly directed to our room which was bright and clean with beautiful views of the Belfast Lough. The breakfast buffet was good. All in all only to be recommended to al those wanting to visit Belfast or the beautiful Antrim countryside.

We went to Carrickfergus for a family reunion. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and provided with all the information we required. Booking in was completed very efficiently. Our room was next to the lift, and my wife preferred a room further from the lift. On asking we were given another room. The housekeeper was very very kind and nothing was too much trouble. Our stay was above the standard which I expected from Premier, The staff make the hotel so much better, they treat you like family. Even walking to your room you get greeted and asked if you slept well or had a nice time etc., this is what is lacking in life today- the common courtesies that make you feel good. Although we only partook of breakfast at the hotel the staff were exceptionally helpful ie - "If there is anything you want you tell me and I will get it for you" was a comment from a young male member of staff, who was just clearing a nearby table. Its the thought that counts. Even when the family descended on us for breakfast on the last morning, staff were there to provide high chairs without being asked and nothing was too much trouble. Staff of Premier Inn Carrickfergus take a bow.

Room Tip: Personally I prefer a room that is not next to a lift or stairwell, even though the rooms are well n...

A very good quality Premier Inn with friendly, helpful staff.

The food and accommodation are pretty basic but good value for the money. If you are looking for luxury, you should look elsewhere. I have to agree with the previous poster about the water pressure in the shower but I found this also to be the case in shower in my room in the Clarion Hotel in Carrickfergus (see other post). The Premier Inn is on the harbour so is in easy walking distance of Harbour Point which is a nice restaurant. It is very close to Sainsburys too - in case you run short of supplies.

Room Tip: If you are in a room overlooking the carpark in windy weather and have a window open, the bells ring...

Fabulous, clean and comfortable rooms. Reception staff extremely polite and helpful. On site Brewers Fayre left a lot to be desired. With exception of time the depute manager served us, we had a catalogue of issues. Plates/glasses not washed properly, service slow and on one occasion waitress very cheeky! Breakfast things not ready one morning and poor choices for a diabetic child with no alternatives offered. Good point was that our room was at back of hotel away from restaurant car park so was very quiet which was great with a kid in tow. We would go back to the hotel again but would probably eat out elsewhere...

Room Tip: Rooms at back are away from main car park and restaurant.
