The Premier Inn in Carrickfergus is much like any other Premier Inn, since they all follow a formula. The room was small, but adequate and clean. The hotel is well situated on the newish marina area which has a few other restaurants and is directly across the bay from the Castle. There is also a small mall nearby with a grocery store and other restaurants. There is an excellent view from outside the hotel of the castle. Views from inside the hotel are of the parking lot. It is also withing walking distance of the train station (10min) and pretty well everything else in the small town of Carrickfergus. The train from Belfast provides regular suburban train type service to the town. It only takes about 30-40 min by train from Belfast centre to Carrickfergus. Service at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, both in the restaurant and at the desk. Breakfast was good but basic, and not expensive. There are several nice tea shops and cafes in the main shopping area of the town.
Overall, it was a good place to stay and excellent value.More
