A lot of this is new, so I hope it is maintained to the present standard. This area really lifts the town. great for a stroll & would keep kids amused for ages. Also used as a commemoration area.

They've added a WWII Churchill tank, near the War monument. I'm actually surprised by how small it is. I guess I'm used to the giant steam trains around here. The tank is a fun and fitting addition to that area. One puzzle: I've never yet seen any list of the town's War dead on its memorial. Why not? There is another list, under the arch under a an impressive tower leading to St. Nicholas' churchyard.

Marine Park in Carrickfergus is a well laid out and maintained area near the centre of town, there is a great play area for children divided into sections for different age groups, a picnic area, public toilets and a memorial garden, with a WW2 tank! To cap it off there are nice views of the old town walls the castle and of Belfast Lough where you can see the ships pass by.

This attraction can be found on Marine Highway, just north of Carrick, on the way to Boneybefore. Its very well maintained, and the children love it. The are six sections including sunken gardens, a clock tower, children's play area, manicured lawns, and the town's war memorial. Well worth a visit.
