“A Commercial Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

This isn't a cheap hotel and we weren't impressed by what was on offer for the price. Apart from a (machine produced) greeting card from the manager the personal touches that make a great hotel were largely missing. Our double room was spacious and comfortable but looked out onto an asphalted car park and the side of a housing estate. The place was heaving with extremely loud American men (dressed entirely by their absent wives and the Landsend catalogue) who had two subjects to discuss: golf and business. Since I'm with Mark Twain on the first subject and was on holiday from the second - and how interested can one get about the president's corporate rebranding proposals anyway? - I wasn't enthralled to have my dinner drowned out by the fortissimo braying and whoops from all the neighbouring tables (luckily they all eventually retreated to a small hut in the garden to smoke illegal Cuban cigars). You can't blame the hotel for the guests it gets, but everything there left a taste of slight vulgarity (OK call me a snob) from the over-restored building to the gloom of the restaurant (that wine list is ridiculously priced and arranged) to the pseudo-quaint, cramped snug areas in the bar to the corporately uniformed reception staff with their lines learned by rote (like Ryanair stewards) who would do anything for you except smile (big exception was our brilliant waitress - but then, she was a recent university graduate!). So sorry, Bushmills, but we won't be back any time soon.

We had heard so many good reports about Bushmills Inn, we had to give it a go. We had a lovely stay and the staff were really friendly and attentive. The bar and restaurant had a cosy atmosphere and was well furnished. The room was clean and comfortable but a bit drab. The quilt felt old and lumpy and the furniture could have been more appropriately positioned as you couldn't see the TV from the bed. Food good but didn't think much of the frozen grapes on cheese board. Overall, enjoyable stay, would stay again.

This has to be one of the best hotels in the world. Location, facilities, food but above all the people made this one of the best hotel stays of my life! Could not praise them enough. The rooms are to a very high standard. Restaurant food and wine - great choice, good food and top notch service. The band in the bar finishes the authentic local experience.

Stopped off here for dinner. Amazing food and service. Doesn't look much from outside, could fault the place. The restaurant has a great selection cooked to order. If you are looking for pub grub, this is not the place for you.

Just returned from very relaxing overnight stay... From check-in to check-out everything was perfect.
Cannot speak highly enough of the quality of the food and service.
Everything requested was taken care of promptly and efficiently...
Couldn't ask for anything more... Excellent...

Just returned from Friday night break at Bushmills Hotel. After a hectic week at work my wife and I decided to treat ourselves. The room was a superior one which was very spacious and and elegantly decorated. Lovely bathroom with roll top bath and separate large shower, Facilities were excellent. Had a beautiful meal in the restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hope to return for another break in the not to distant future.

Room Tip: Superior room spacious. Good facilities.

Based in County Antrim over the summer, my wife and I have eaten here twice this month. It really is a pleasure to go to a restaurant where the standard of cooking and waiter(ess) service is of such high quality.

Yes, you may have to pay a little more than the chip shop up the road, but it's well worth it. The Dalriada Cullen Skink is pure heaven on my plate - and I detest sounding like that awful man, Greg Wallace.

The rooms here are expensive but the interior superb.

If you can see past all the Union flags and bonfire every July/August, Bushmills is a delightful wee village, not just a place made famous for whiskey.

I am so glad to read so many other positive reviews on this site.
