“Owner put us off returning!”
Reviewed 30 August 2011

We stayed in Cushendall for the weekend this August, in The Village B&B. Cushendall is a lovely little place, with the friendliest people you could ever meet. The accommodation was clean, tidy and well appointed, with a beautiful hearty breakfast. However, the one thing which would put us off ever returning, or giving a good recommendation, is the behaviour of the owner, who treated us like 10 yr olds, telling us to be "as quiet as mice". We had a glass of wine in our room before we left to go out, and when we came back later that night, we (all 4 of us) went to one room to have a nightcap. When we came out of the bedroom door, he was sitting on the sofa outside the room, and told us he did not allow drinking in the bedrooms. (There was no visible notice to tell us this anywhere in the reception area or bedroom.) He seemed to materialise again when we left the room at another stage. This somewhat strange behaviour was slighlty unnerving, and marred what was otherwise a nice visit to County Antrim.

In common with all guests arriving I did ask them to be as quiet as mice when coming in after 11pm. This is because the house is a sleeping environment at that time. In the case of these guests I was awoken by noise from upstairs at 12 15am. When I went upstairs I found them moving between rooms with alcohol talking loudly and laughing. I told them that I didnt allow drinking in the rooms but really it was the noise that was the issue.I told them that they could have a drink in the sitting room downstairs away from the other guest bedrooms but they refused.I then had to sit on the landing for some time monitoring the noise. Indeed had it not settled down I would have asked them to leave. I fully expected an apology next morning when the alcohol was gone. But No they post this review where they feel their right to upset the sleeping environment of myself and other guests was infringed. I make no apology for trying to maintain a good sleeping environment at night and would not accept these guests again

We spent a lovely night in this bed & breakfast with our three kids and a Spanish friend. The rooms were lovely and big and the beds very comfortable. The kids loved having their own coffee making facilities and we were able to watch the rugby in the lounge. Breakfast was very nice the next morning and the owner and staff couldn't have been more friendly.

We had a great time in Cushendall. The Village Inn was a great base to explore the beautiful coast and the owner even went across the street to get us champagne glasses so we could drink the champagne we brought! Very friendly and comfortable B&B.

We were touring the Causeway Coast for a few days and stayed in this lovely B&B in Cushendall , right in middle of the town ,we just knocked on the door as we had no time to book ahead , and we were met by a beautiful friendly young woman called Nicola who was most helpful , and showed us our room which was of very high standard , immaculately clean , and very comfortable .
She immediately offered us a cup of tea which was very welcome as we had been driving for a while ..
Later on in the evening we had only to walk across the street to a pub McColams where we enjoyed the most amazing session of music , it might as well have been the United Nations as there was "trad"musicians from USA, and Europe all playing together .
Back to the house later and into a very comfortable bed for a much needed nights sleep .
The breakfast in the morning was very tasty and an abundance of food was offered , together with copious refills of the tea pot , and it set us up for the day.
We left this house to continue on our travels feeling very satisfied with the homely atmosphere and friendliness we enjoyed in this home from home .
I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in this area , and you will not be dissapointed , and we will definitely be staying with this family the next time we are in the Cushendall area .

Cushendall is a tiny village, but it's surprisingly well set-up for tourists and the Village B&B is right in the heart of the town. The town's famous pub,McCollum's, is directly across the street and there are two really good restaurants in town, one on the second floor of McCollum's and the other, Harry's, just a few doors down the street from the B&B. Everything in the village is within about a 10-minute walk.
My wife and I stayed here for two nights while we explored the Antrim coast. The B&B itself was very nice--and a good bargain-- and the proprietor Alex was quite accommodating. His breakfasts were good and plentiful. No problems or issues at all. We would stay here again and will recommend it to our friends.

Room Tip: To avoid traffic noise, ask for a room that doesn't overlook the street.

This B+B's stands out from the crowd. It is a beautiful old house in the centre of the village opposite a fabulous pub and restaurant. The rooms are spacious, warm and comfortable and everything was spotless. The breakfast is brilliant with the best of local produce. Definately one to return to.

Reasons:
It was located in the middle of the village.
Best pub around (must go for its traditional irish music!)
It's clean, comfortable and homelike.
The owner is VERY decent.
Close to the glens, the beach, the layde church and the bus station.
You will not regret!

Room Tip: Just any one is good enough!
