“Fab weekend break :)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 November 2013 via mobile

Stayed in port hotel few years ago and when I returned on friday 8/11/13 for a weekend break there's been some lovely changes. Reception has had a face lift as some of the room's and I was told the rest is in the middle of being done up. We ate in the hotel both night's food was beautiful 3 course £12.95 well worth it, breakfast was also lovely. The staff in the restaurant/bar was brilliant always smiling, polite as was the receptionist, maids management. The cellar bar so warm with a open fire lit nice atmosphere and good pub quiz on the Friday night followed by karaoke with crazy davy both Friday & Saturday. As when the rest of rooms are finished I'd give it a 4 star especially for food and location and the staff. Thank you for a lovely stay and will be back again soon :) scott.

Came here as a large family group, my room was located in old smoking part (rm2), our room had what I can only describe as a sulphur smell !! Went to reception and the lady on desk was more than happy to change us.
Beds have seen there day, as have most of carpets.
Went to bar early evening were motger in law was looking something to eat foid came only to be told that she would have to sit up the back or her room.
That night at pub asked could we sing to be automatically told no fields of anthenry or rubbish like that. Crazy dave would need brought out of the past and stop assuming that anyone with an irish name is going to sing irish songs, this put a dampner on whole night.
Breakfast was ok apart from all seemed deepfried.
Would of went back all apart from 'crazy daves' remarks !!

My husband and I spent two nights in the Port Hotel and we had a fantastic time. Our room was nice with a very comfortable bed and great bathroom and shower. The food was second to none just lovely and the staff, well what can I say, so friendly and helpful. Chris, Jackie, Johnny, Gillian, Ian, Mark, and Niall were all fantastic, we can't thank them enough and then there is Crazy Davy who does the karaoke on a Friday and Saturday night what a character he was so much fun. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked to stay again in April. Thank you all so much for making our anniversary a memorable one. See you all in April.

After arriving late Friday eve, we checked in to a smaller than advertised room, with a bed that I would question wether it was actually a double size. The kettle, was a travel kettle, that does not switch off when boiled, I'm fairly sure this is illegal. Uncomfortable bed, clearly an old mattress. Lighting in the room was poor at best. Breakfast was poor, and tasteless. Due to a horrible night sleep, we checked out early. Was offered to move rooms, but no refund. Poor customer service. Would not stay again.

This is a very basic hotel (and I question the title hotel). It was very clean and the staff were pleasant..It also has a central location. But i must emphasise .... very basic. They have no lift --- a narrow stairs --- we were on the third floor at the top of the building facing the street !!. There was no phone in the room and to be honest 90% of the time you don't need a phone in the room. BUT @ approx 3.20 am and alarm went off, it sounded as if it was in the hotel as we had no phone we had no way of contacting reception so we had no choice but to get up and dressed and head down to reception. The occupants of our neighbouring room did the same. Thankfully the alarm was on another premises on the street,
There was entertainment in the bar that night a Karakoe and while we like to listen to good music all I could describe this as was " a racket" loud for the sake of loud.We did get a very good deal on this hotel and we were only staying for one night, if we were to stay for a longer period I would defenitely not recommend this hotel. I enjoy my basic comforts.
Would really recommend a meal in The Harbour Restaurant
