We stayed here for one night to attend the Horslips concert at Dunluce. The place is easy to find and parking is available on the street. Our room was a small double but we didn't intend spending much time indoors so it was fine, but if you wanted to laze about in your room it would be a bit claustrophobic. Frank was lovely and the breakfast was as good as most hotels with lovely fresh fruit with strawberries and blueberries, cereals, cold meats etc and a delicious cooked breakfast with a perfectly poached egg. Worth it for the breakfast alone.

Stayed here for the second year running of the NW 200 and every time we have been it has always been good. Room was perfect it had everything we needed from tea and coffee facilities to a tv. 3 bathrooms were situated at either side of us which was great when both wanted to get ready at the same time! No fighting over it! Breakfast was very tasty with a excellent choice of food from breads, fruit, cereal, drinks and a cooked breakfast of your choice. You are able to come and go as you please which was great if you wanted to be late back or out early in the morning. Fully accessible to all local attractions and always provided with good knowledge of what to do and see. Looking forward to going back to see Frank and Gail for their warm hospiltality.

Room Tip: If you prefer an ensuite request when booking. Stairlift available to the first floor for anyone wh...

Just back from 2 nights at the Mandalay. A last minute decision to take my 3 grandchildren to Portrush, and not have to worry about coming home early. (I dont drive and although we love the train, its hard in the evenings with tired children).
The walk to the B&B was 5 minutes from the train station - which was brilliant then for me....!! We were welcomed by Frank at the door and he immediately took my suitcase and headed upstairs with it. We had room 9. It is the only one with 4 beds in it, and was perfect for us. A double bed and a set of bunk beds. They were spotless. You can tell this place has been bought over and transformed with care. I never knew the old place, but can say the taste is good here, and almost everything in the building is new. The room was warm, and actually had 2 radiators (just in case it did get really bad).
We emptied a few things out and headed for the town - and were presented with a key for the front door so we did not have stick to any timetables, or disturb either Frank or Gail when we needed back in.
Breakfast was - as others have said already - excellent. you help yourself to juice and cereal, yogurts and fruit, breads and rolls.
You are asked what you would like cooked and you get exactly that. Nothing seems to be too much trouble.
The childrene were asked personally what they wanted, and that is something nice to see.
The kids loved the room and our view outside was only over the street, but it was fine. There was a tv (I did have kids with me dont forget..!) and it had plenty of channels. Loads of fresh towels were available and although not ensuite, the bathroom was just next door with a shower cubicle and toilet. The very next door is another bathroom with a toilet, shower and a bath.
So, no complaints for this place. How could we ?? It was perfect for us in so many ways.
It is still an old building, but the charm of it is great.
I have to say I signed the guest book which is sitting in the hallway and noticed other names above us from Canada, France, USA, England, N.Ireland and Rep. of Ireland. Now to me, that must be some proof that the place is popular.
Oh, the reason for my title...?? Well, I am not a rich person but have found myself trawling the internet over the past 10 years or so for deals in hotels. I love finding that bargain.... and have done so.
So, the only hotels I have stayed in over these past few years have been 4 and 5 star... seriously.
Yet here I am reviewing this B&B and very happy for the stay I had there. Its a better review than some of those higher class hotels I have stayed in.
Keep up the good work you two, its working and I have no hesitation in recommending the Mandalay. None at all.
and
neither do my grandchildren...

We had a lovely stay at The Mandalay. A very clean, welcoming b&b with fantastic customer care and a great breakfast. Very local to everything and reasonable rates, we will definitely be back. Thanks Frank.

We recently stayed here having made a last minute decision to extend our weekend in Portrush. Frank was very welcoming and courteous on arrival and showed us to our room. The room itself wasn't the best. It was very cold and oddly shaped but it was also very clean and tidy so we were happy enough at that. We had a small leak/drip coming from the ceiling which wasnt really that bad but once we mentioned it to the owners they were very apologetic and they offered us another stay at another b&b (as they were fully booked) or the room for free. As this was a act of God there was little they could do, we were very grateful for the attitude they had in making sure we were happy after this. We decided to stay on and within a couple of hours of light dripping, the drip stopped. The breakfast the following morning was worth staying for. Frank was again very friendly and apologetic about our very small leak. I stayed at this b&b many years ago and you can see the difference these owners have made to the place. Do not let my review put you off staying here at all. For the price, the location, the breakfast and the owners welcoming personality we would stay here again although not in the same room (No.1). As we were leaving Frank offered us a better room with an ensuite for a discounted price if we chose to stay with them again which we were grateful for. You cant ask for better than that! For a short visit to Portrush, I would definitely recommend staying here at the Mandalay!

Room Tip: Room 1 is very small and oddly shaped

Booked for the first time, not knowing what to expect. On arrival we were greeted by the owner ( Frank) he was so friendly and welcoming from the onset. Rooms were spotless, food and service was excellent. The choice of breakfast was simply amazing. Frank and Gail were more than helpful, chatty and very professional. We were made to feel as though we were home from home. Needless to say we will certainly be booking again real soon. Walking distance to town center, parking was great. All round an excellent choice and fantastic value for money. Definitely would recommend to everyone who wants to feel cared for. A must for every visitor.

We stayed at the end of the season and were the only guests. Frank gave us our choice of the best en-suite rooms and was really friendly from we arrived, until we left. The guest house is a traditional seaside townhouse - recently taken over by Frank and his partner. Although only three of us, frank didn't cut any corners, gorgeous fresh fruit, warm crispy toast and a great Ulster Fry. We followed this with a lovely walk along the beach (which is accessible from the Mandalay) to Ramore Head to burn some calories and clear our heads!

This guest house was fantastic value. I'd definitely go back.
