“Well worth the visit”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

There aren't too many hotels that can boast the view of the Atlantic you get from front-facing rooms at the Ramada in Portrush. It quite takes your breath away! We have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions so knew what to expect. On arrival you are greeted by the friendliest, most helpful front desk staff... the sort of people who will move heaven and earth to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay. Our room on the top floor was excellent, and surprisingly quiet considering it overlooked the street. We were in Portrush this time to visit friends, so didn't have the opportunity to take our evening meals in the hotel. But the restaurant was packed to the doors when we went past, which is a good sign! Breakfast at the Ramada is legendary and really sets you up for the day. We'd recommend the cooked breakfast. It is freshly cooked, so hasn't been kept heated for ages before you get it. The potato bread is to die for, and the sausages would win prizes (come to think of it, they probably have!). We left the hotel this morning with a promise to the staff, and to ourselves, that we'd be back again soon.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor are nice and quiet.

We only stayed one night but the Ramada Portrush was a very clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. We weren't hungry so we had snacks and drinks in the bar, rather than a full dinner. Breakfast was lovely. The breakfast staff were very welcoming and shared the local hidden gems with us. I'd stay here again.

Arriving in Portrush on a sunny and mild day after a 6 hour drive, was a good start. The welcome at reception was excellent and informative. The well furnished sea facing room was comfortable and easily accessed. Dinner in the restaurant just lacked something although the staff were attentive and pleasant. I don't like having to pay extra for chips with my fish and chips and the fish platter was disappointing both in content and quality. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice from the cold and hot buffets.

Overall the staff were pleasant and welcoming and an asset to the hotel.

The Ramada Hotel, Portrush is comfortable, clean and welcoming. We found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is well placed for walks around Portrush and is only a few miles away from Portstewart, which I find to be a more pleasant resort. There are plenty of beaches nearby both resorts, along with a number of great eating places. Breakfast at The Ramada was excellent. I don't think I have ever eaten an Ulster fry which was so devoid of gease. Delicious.

I love this hotel! I have been here numerous times for short breaks with my husband and 3 young kids. The reception staff are helpful, pleasant and friendly. The rooms are comfortable, clean, warm and quiet. The breakfast is vast and the service of the morning waiting team was very attentive especially as we have 3 little ones! Nothing was a problem. The evening food menu offered a great choice and the waiting staff were more than helpful making our mealtimes so much more enjoyable as we didnt feel under pressure having the wee ones; we do pre-book a quieter table which works out really well and the food was fresh, tasty and plentiful! It is in an ideal location on the main street just a short away from the main attractions and excellent beach. Our room views were always of the car park but that wasnt a problem as we didnt specifically request a good view and there is a lovely green area with beautiful views of the ocean just across the road from the front door of the hotel. We cant wait to go back again!!

I stayed in the Ramada last week 31st March 2014, on business for one night. The food was grand, had breakfast , lunch and dinner over the course of my 2 days, (breakfast very good). The staff were all absolutely lovely, from reception, to waiting and bar staff. My only gripe was that when I went to my room, it was absolutely stinking of smoke. I rang reception immediately, and I have to say the receptionist I spoke to was absolutely wonderful. When I went back downstairs, she apologised profusely, and immediately moved me to another room . I was fortunate in that the hotel wasn't fully booked, otherwise I would have been stuck with the aroma of stale tobacco smoke. Portrush is not where I would go for a break, more of the wilds of Donegal type person, but would I recommend it for a budget stay, yes, would be a good base to explore some of the beauty of the north coast, given it's location . So primarily, I have to say, based on my experience of all the staff, the location, and the clean but basic and comfortable rooms I would recommend a stay at Ramada if you're looking for a good value break in and around the north coast.

Room Tip: Try and ask for a sea view!
