Drove up to the car park but still felt very unfit walking the last few yards. Climbed up the tower and the most amazing views ever, breathtaking and a must if you are in N.I.

Scrabo tower is the iconic emblem of Newtownards. Don't expect a high tech experience, it has an old fashioned charm in it's visitor centre, and it is informative and interesting. The views from the top of Scrabo hill are spectacular and worth the lung bursting walk. Really not suitable for those with poor or limited mobility, the walk to the tower is all uphill and the tower itself has many many many stairs.

Well its a climb to get to the Tower and its an even greater climb inside ... to be fair its was worth it.
The exhibitions were poor and the staff disinterested.
With some imagination and creativity this place could be class in every way.

Great views from this famous landmark in Newtownards. However, the tower itself is currently closed due to health and safety issues re water. It is about half a mile of a climb but when you get there you can see great views of Scotland, the mountains of Mourne in Newcastle, Strangford Lough and even the Isle of Man. Many local artists have painted the tower and surrounding areas. well worth a trip. There is no word of when the tower itself will be open again to visitors.
