Had nice lunch here after the bar was refurbished, and mum & dad ate here a couple of times and recommended it. However, we went one Thursday night and my partner ordered the sizzling steak special for £9.99. The waitress came back to say there were no 8oz steaks left, but he could have a 10oz one for an extra £2.00, which suited fine. His steak was overcooked, not medium, but tasty. My chicken goujons were a bit dry and overcooked too. When the bill came, one item was listed as "miscellaneous" for £3.00. When we queried this, the waitress said it was the extra cost for the bigger steak. We pointed out that she had originally told us it would be £2.00 extra, and she told us that upstairs in the restaurant it cost £3.00 extra. Seeing as we had eaten in the bar downstairs, this seemed to be a totally bizarre comment. We stuck to our guns, and paid £2.00 extra, but left no tip!!

However, as mum really rated the food, we booked a family meal for Mother's Day, and got an excellent meal. Couldn't fault the food or the service. Based on this experience, we decided to give it another go and went on a Friday night. We both ordered the Roast Chicken, but were disappointed as the chicken had obviously been done in a deep fat fryer, and we paid £10 for a meal that we could have got in a Chippie for half the price. Not sure we'll be back...

Was very disappointed with the staff member who served myself and my family. He had no personality had no understanding of the menu when asked to explain certain dishes. Also didn't explain that the special they offer, two courses for £10 was starter and main course only not main course and dessert. Food was ok but have had better.

Although fairly recently having adopted this pub/restaurant as a venue for a group of good friends meeting up as "The Friday Club" after our last watering hole decided to increase it's drinks prices overnight by as much as 50p a measure in the case of vodka, this has come to feel like a home from home mostly due to the friendly, helpful attitude of the owners Jim and Dawn and the rest of the staff. The little Snugs and the real fire burning in the background with great live music on a Friday and Saturday night add to the welcoming feeling from when you enter 'til you leave. The food for casual dining and functions has been excellent so far.
